Sad news. Terminally ill cancer patient Ebony Banks, of Houston, Texas, died 4 days after meeting her idol Beyoncé Knowles.

When Ebony learned her stage IV cancer was terminal, she told her family her biggest wish was to meet Beyoncé before she died.

Ebony's family and friends immediately launched an online campaign to get the Houston native's attention.

"Beyoncé is one of her idols," Karina Gutierrez, a classmate of Banks' told ABC13 News. "She admires her so much, so we're trying to put that on Twitter and Instagram to get Beyoncé's attention."

The campaign was a huge success, and Beyoncé responded by FaceTiming the teenager last week.

Houston's Alief Hastings High School confirmed the sad news via Twitter on Sunday, according to US Weekly magazine.

  • Chicagowise

I suspect her real final wish was to live. ?

  • Evillene

hard to reconcile a young person going as a result of cancer. just incredibly sad. at least Bey showed out, glad she did.

  • TooMuchTea

See Auntie! Bey not so bad after all.
    RIP Ebony.

  • Mrs. ??????????

Face time? She couldn't go see the dying girl? I mean come on, it was the girl's dying wish....Smh..But Beyoncé can preform at awards shows though.... RIP young lady at least Beyoncé let you see her on another kind of screen.

  • Tena

Ummm I think that was the girls preference for Beyonce to FaceTime. This was a last minute effort because they knew she didn't have much time left.

  • Mrs. ??????????

Oh I thought the girl's dying wish was to "meet" Beyoncé, not see her on face time. Just my opinion though, It just sounds very impersonal to face time with a dying person whose last wish was to meet you.

  • Rhondalousey

Oh wow, rest in peace baby girl. I hate cancer, why cant they give us the cure already, geesh! glad bey did that for her, so so sweet.

  • ShadesofEMPRESS

Rest in peace baby. I'm so glad her wish came true. Beyonce is so awesome.

  • Diva_woman

She's pregnant with twins and her performing is what affords her the career for people to want to meet her. The girl was happy no need to be a negative Nancy. You can't please everyone, if she went to visit her y'all would've said she should've gave her money or something else.

  • TooMuchTea

    Folks never satisfied.

  • Luvn_it

Well I'm just using a quote from family members and friends. Not my own personal opinion of the young lady. Ewing's Sarcoma is a very rare cancer and has a lower survival rate. Rather or not she shared those feelings with her loved ones of her real final wish( if it was different) I don't know.

  • Mrs. ??????????

I'm not a negative Nancy, I just think if someone is dying, you should have some consideration for their last wish. Face time wasn't enough IMO.

  • datATLboi

This is an amazing story. I'm glad Beyoncé did this for her. Rest in Heaven

when a person WANTS to complain they will find a reason ...

  • Diva4lyfe

RIP Princess, I really appreciate Bey stepping up and honoring her wish. It makes me really appreciate more.

  • Lolalao

I'm glad her family and friends got to see her wish come true before she went off to heaven. RIP ??

  • Cinnamon Brown

No lie I thought he same thing! The flight would have been nothing seriously FaceTime is not meeting a person. Although it was a nice gesture in my mind a terminal illness would warrant a in person visit...
