Tiger Woods

Golf legend Tiger Woods arrested for driving under the influence near his mansion on Jupiter Island, Florida at 3 a.m. The 41-year-old golf superstar was pulled over after a police officer noticed him driving erratically and weaving “all over the road”.

The officer noted a strong odor of alcohol on Woods’ breath. But Woods refused to blow a breathalyzer test. Refusing to take a breathalyzer test in Florida means an automatic DUI arrest.

Woods was allowed to sleep off his drunken stupor in a jail cell. He was booked into the county jail at 7:18 a.m. then released on his own recognizance at 10:30 a.m.

In a mugshot handout by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office, Woods appears bleary eyed and wasted.

He was charged with driving under the influence of an unknown substance. A urine test will determine if he was high on drugs or alcohol.

Gossip tabloid TMZ reports that Woods, who lives in the wealthy enclave of Jupiter Island on Florida’s east coast, was driving southbound away from his home at the time of his arrest.

TMZ claims Woods’ lawyers have been calling the sheriff’s office all morning asking if the cop wore a body cam.

Cops were planning to tow his black 2015 Mercedes Benz SUV when a friend arrived to pick it up.

At the top of his peak in the early 2000s, Woods won 14 major tournaments and earned a total of $1.4 billion in prize money and endorsements.

Sunday wasn’t the first time the golfer was caught driving under the influence. In 2009 Woods took an Ambien tablet, got behind the wheel of his Cadillac Escalade, hit a fire hydrant and smacked into a tree in a neighbor’s yard next door to his home near Orlando.

He was fleeing his then-wife Elin Nordegren, who took a golf club to his SUV (pictured below) because he was cheating on her.

Woods wasn’t arrested that night but he was issued a $164 ticket for reckless driving by the Windermere Police Department.

He later released a statement on his website saying, “I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart.”.

Woods and Nordegren divorced less than a year later. They have 2 children together, daughter Sam, 10, and son Charlie, 9.
