People are still buzzing about Beyonce's weekend 1 concert at the 2018 Coachella "Beychella" Music Festival on Saturday. Beyonce plans to switch things up for her next Coachella concert this weekend, according to one of her dancers.
The 37-year-old pop singer received worldwide praise for her stunning live performance that nearly broke the Internet last Saturday.
One of her dancers tells Variety.com exclusively that the mother-of-3 plans to switch things up for her next concert.
“Yeah, we’re switching up a couple things, so there could still be a wow factor,” teased Jo’Artis Mijo Ratti, who was onstage during Beyonce's weekend 1 performance.
The dancer, who has also worked with Madonna and Kelly Rowland, said Beyonce is a a professional who killed her dance moves during rehearsals.
“She kills the moves just as hard as the best girl that’s doing the choreography,” Ratti recalled of the rehearsals. “It makes everybody in the production as a whole want to step their game up."
Ratti, who auditioned in December, said Beyonce's work ethic during rehearsals is something you have to see to believe. He said she put in 10-14 hour workdays, very similar to Madonna who came to work fully prepared for rehearsals.
"Some jobs you might chill - craft services, read a book, hop on your phone — for a couple hours, but not while we were there [with Beyonce]. We were getting put to use with ideas, fitting, wardrobe, video blocking. It could be really overwhelming, but luckily, it wasn’t my first rodeo."
Ratti also mentioned that Beyoncé’s “army of female dancers” were the best he had seen in his career.
He added that Beyonce's husband JAY-Z attended rehearsals frequently and even hyped up the dancers. “I’m an underground man, so I never thought that I would be at rehearsals busting a move, and Jay-Z is out here hyping me up,” Ratti recalled. “That’s crazy, I would have never thought [he] was a regular [presence] at her rehearsals.”
Ratti said Beyonce was completely hands on and she took a no-nonsense approach to rehearsals. There are rumors that several dancers were fired during the Coachella rehearsals.
He added that Beyonce was a nurturer who took a personal interest in her dancers. He was impressed with her dedication to her craft.
“She’s like an auntie,” he said. “Super kind and very particular about what she wants. It made me do even better because I understand that she's a real artist. She's not just letting somebody take over her vision.”
Regarding the concert livestream that nearly broke the Internet on Saturday, a rep told Variety.com that presently there is no official (meaning legal) website streaming Beyonce's weekend 2 concert.
