On Tuesday, rap mogul Tip "T.I." Harris unveiled a permanent Nipsey Hussle exhibit at his Trap Music Museum in Atlanta. The exhibit was personally curated by T.I.

From a press release:

In honor of Nipsey Hussle's 34th birthday, Multi-platinum Hip Hop Icon, Trap music pioneer, blockbuster actor and label head Tip "T.I." Harris unveiled a permanent Nipsey Hussle installation at the Trap Music Museum in Atlanta, on August 13th. Nipsey Hussle was born on August 15th.

The installation was personally curated by Tip with co-curation by Grand Hustle Head of Marketing, James Miller. The installation is a 3-piece collaborative labor of respect and admiration for Nipsey with the majestic painting created by BK The Artist featuring blue roses in his beard, along with images of his children, family, Lauren London and the posthumous memorial at the Marathon clothing store. The bench in the installation, created by Dizzy and Quake, is a take on Nipsey’s Victory Lap album cover while the blue and red jersey was conceived by the Trap Music Museum curation collective.

"Based on what Nipsey means to me and the community as a whole, we knew that the art had to be superlative, so I reached out to BK The Artist, whose work I personally collect and the Trap Music Museum collective commissioned Dizzy and Quake. I'm excited about Dizzy and Quake's creativity and feel that their idea of doing the bench is pretty damn dope," states Tip.

Celebrity guests and influencers in attendance included: T.I.'s wife, the award-winning singer-songwriter and television star, Tameka "Tiny" Harris, his children singer-songwriter and tv star Zonnique Pullins, rap and television stars Domani Harris and King Harris, Grammy award-winning singer Monica, TV star and NY Times best-selling author Toya Wright, actress, singer-songwriter LeToya Luckett, key influencer and TV star Reginae Carter, World Champion Long Drive Golf Pro Marcus Allen, TIG Records label Head Girvan "Fly" Henry, and Dr. Sebi's daughter naturalist Kellie Bowman.

    Happy birthday Nip!

  • ?Patty Kakes?

Even though I don't like a lot of things T.I. says he is still as sexy as he was when he first came out

I must have been living under a rock because I didn't know who Nipsey was until he died.

How "museumy" is this place in real life? I've yet to see a picture that makes the set-up look like a museum or, even an homage to certain artists... it always looks like people just found a space to hang stuff from their favorite artist on their basement wall... and call it a museum.

  • Carrington

Y'all gone leave my Tiny alone. I like her. LOL

  • Carrington

Plymouth Rock didn't just land on you... I was stuck under there with you cause I ain't know either...

  • Seldomseen

I only knew him because he was dating Lauren London

  • Li-Wright

OT: RKelly may be getting a new attorney according to news. How is he paying for these attorneys?
Is there admission fee to the museum? How big is it? (doesn't look very big).

  • Starburst

Lol! Good to know I'm not alone.

  • Starburst

Whew! I feel so much better knowing you are in company with me.

  • TamG

Don’t know one song from Nipsey Hussle, only knew of him vaguely the few months before he died because I saw stories pop up about his relationship to the actress. I did not know of his supposed “greatness” til after he passed. Similarly, I don’t understand the concept of a “trap museum.” I thought “trap” was a slang meaning of selling drugs. I thought selling drugs was bad and something people were embarrassed about. I didn’t know it was something to which you pay homage with a “museum.”

I am in these people’s age range, but feel increasingly removed from Black culture. It’s alien to me now.

COONERY AND FOOLERY!! How tf are you glamourizing trap and gang life!!!? Some black ppl esp celebrities are such clowns and followrrw and then wonder why other races mock us and dont take us seriously!! All the women up there wouldnt dare want their sons to grow up and be apart of that lifestyle so why even acknowledge the bs?!? Nor would they want their daughters associating with gangstas or drug dealers!! See the fkn hypocrisy in this bs they all posed up and dressed like they going somewhere of prestige and honor for our ppl! This bs pisses me off because MONICA should know better..latoya look stupid and tiny of course follows her man like a pet sheep and look like one too?!!! Hardly any of them hang out with real gangsters or drug dealers..sooo many of our own are being murdered because of that lifestyle including NIPSEY and they feel like thats some bs to IDOLIZE AND CELEBRATE?!?! ???? IDIOTS!!!!

  • Facts and Receipts

  • currvalicious

"Key Influencer & TV star - Reginae Carter..Really??? Where??? This is a NO!.. All these heavy titles for the usual ATL suspects..Only ones deserving of would be Monica, LaToya, & Tiny. They all have legitimate careers. Not the celebuspawns. Aunt Sandra must be bases out of Atlanta

  • KcoolMuziq

Yes R Kelly has had meetings with Tom Mesereau MJ's lawyer.

Remember people that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I wonder if the cameras were there filming for Friends and Family Hustle.

Although, I am a fan of the cast members, the show is a bit boring. Maybe this season will be better.

I am glad that TIP came through and pay homage to Nipsey Hussle. I still don't know what Nipsey's legacy is. I may have to research him a little more. I learned of Nipsey because of Lauren London and his Grammy nomination.

  • imright

i cant stand Tip. he used to be one of my faves .

  • Bree

I am glad I am not alone in this. I can't name a Nipsey song, nor lyric.

  • Bree

    R. Kelly has millions hidden somewhere. I don't condone his actions, but I would hide money too. He had crooks around him. Those people kept his occupied with girls knowing he had an issue. All people (Delilah) needs to do is find your weakness. It's over for you after that. Whatever crime R. Kelly committed, he needs to be punished for. The truth is, he has already paid the price. I'm sure this has taken its toll on him and all of those who actually still support him. Everybody involved, including the parents deserve a cell next to his!

  • Li-Wright

So OTW, he's not too stupid not to know how to count money. I suspect he's hid money with various people who he trusts. I also read somewhere that he's given away the rights to his songs. Maybe that's how he pays attorneys?

  • Li-Wright

Why do we, why would we celebrate Trap?
Isn’t trap associated with drug dealing. The drugs that continue the destroy Black lives quicker than the KKK?
As for the reader who said is this a real museum or a room where T.I decided to hang his favorite stuff in?
    Black folks let do better.

  • abby500

And I think Nipsey got smoked for plain ol’ ?h?t talking to a nothing nicca who had nothing to lose by killing him. I think he had a mouth on him and he probably thought it was ok to dis a nobody guy (calling him a snitch) and dude just went there. Still very sad. This is why these rappers who come up needs to learn how to strategically distance themselves from the hood

  • Chaseboogie The Prince

It feels like everybody is riding Nipsey's name for their own gain and clout. None of these people were out here on tour with this man, doing features, etc. I remember reading that his REAL family and friends were saying Nipsey had asked alot of these so called celebrity supporters to be on his music or offered to be on theirs, and he got crickets. Now everybody out here riding a wave because Nip was considered a real dude. Now other celebs want to be associated with a 'real dude,' which somehow makes them more real, street, or credible. I'm tired of TI though, for real, for real.

  • bb1812

I knew very little about Nipsey save for name recognition via Lauren London. But ppl really need to just let this man rest in peace now. Also, they all look foolish.

  • Braxton P. Hartnabrig

I don't object to your SMH. Glorifying a sub culture that has failed black folks on so many levels.

  • Braxton P. Hartnabrig

    ???? YES she do!!!

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

    What do you mean?

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

Just to be clear: I did not write that press release.

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

FYI: I did not write the press release. I only wrote the 1st paragraph up top.

  • AListDiva29

I somewhat agree. He did a feature with DJ Khalid that was released a month or two after his death. Kendrick, Cee-Lo and Diddy were on his Victory Lap album. YG, Rick Ross and Dom Kennedy also featured on his mix tapes. I think a lot of the ppl shouting him out were other LA Rappers or friends by association of Lauren, like TIP.

  • AListDiva29

I used to listen to Paper Trail so much it skipped! Remember when ppl still listened to cd's?! Feels ages ago!

  • CoTToNCaNDie SWeeTAsGolD

Well Television Star is a bit overusedin the write up!! When did she become a best selling author?! Resume is absolutely not a key influencer or a TV star!! It probably would have been more believable if you said TI, Tiny and all their D-List celebrity friends!! But it's ok I understand everybody needs a little shine every now and then.

  • currvalicious

    Lol! Alright, alright...??

  • Logan Roberts

Resume looks older than her mother. TI needs some cucumbers over those tired eyes. Monica with that purse is doing the most.

  • PetiteButterScotch

I agree with you all the way

  • sandi

Free museum to the public? How many people would take their children to this? I love museums. This is not one that I would put on my list, but then.... I do wish that I could see the African American Museum (not sure if that is the proper name) in D.C. Heard great things about it. And one other question, is that a car he's in because when they are raising that black cloth, it looks like a coffin.

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

I noted in my post that the writeup was from a press release.

  • CoTToNCaNDie SWeeTAsGolD

ohhh ok. I stand corrected Auntie!

  • TamG

If you go to the one in DC, you might want to carve out multiple days. I couldn’t see it all in one day. I’ll have to go back just to check out a different floor! Lol It’s THAT massive.

  • Lame Ass LA

Purse.....i thought it was her laundry bag...

  • Skin Deep Beauty

I live here in DC... AA museum is a great visit... Very showcasing and informative!

As to that Trap museum BS... THAT A SLAP IN THE FACE... BURN IT TO THE GROUND!

  • Skin Deep Beauty

    Exactly what it is.

  • Skin Deep Beauty

Look like a motley Crew of bufoons. All dressed up to see each other. Then late gone change into some more material to turn up to their own music then tomorrow go down at each other store and go back to the trap hut and is again at night.. What a bunch of under productive non contributors to society

  • Skin Deep Beauty

All of that.. I heard about Nipsy in 2009 .. Some cats from Houston was doing local music with him and waiting for him to blow up... Next thing I hear is is with London and iv was like she really has a type. Riding the this mans death for fame.

  • Skin Deep Beauty

  • MRiGOThim

Damn Auntie, no pics where we could see lil Tiffany "T.I." Harris print or dem cakes O_o

  • Lovely517

Auntie, can you explain the moral of this trap museum foolishness? What is the meaning behind it? I actually visited Maryland on Friday and took a private tour of the Harriet Tubman museum. Extremely informative and powerful!

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

I don't know. You would have to ask Tip. He is educating the masses about the influence of trap music.
