Kerry Washington attends Essence Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon in Beverly Hills

Pregnant ‘Scandal’ star Kerry Washington attended the 7th Annual ESSENCE “Black Women In Hollywood” Luncheon at Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Thursday. Kerry was escorted by a man who was not her husband, unemployed NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha. There are wild, unconfirmed rumors going around that Asomugha is a homosexual AND the father of 2 out-of-wedlock children. Rest assured that Sandrarose.com does not entertain such petty rumors.

Pharrell Williams Responds to Backlash Over ‘G I R L’ Album Cover

Pharrell Williams

Mega-producer Pharrell Williams is feeling the heat for neglecting to feature a black woman on the cover of his new album, titled simply “G I R L”.

The cover features Williams, 40. posing with three women — 1 Caucasian, 1 Hispanic and 1 LSLH. All four are clad in bathrobes and dark sunglasses.

Williams, who recently married a mixed race woman, said, “The woman I’m standing closest to, she is black and she’s been a friend of mine for a long time.”

I beg to differ. It is ignorant and racist to assume that people of mixed parentage are black. This is the type of backwards thinking that is reinforced by people who still believe in the archaic one drop rule.

“I’ve learned a lot,” said Deen in a cover story of this week’s People magazine.

“I feel like ‘embattled’ or ‘disgraced’ will always follow my name. It’s like that black football player who recently came out,” she said, referring to gay NFL draft prospect Michael Sam.

Deen continued: “He said, ‘I just want to be known as a football player. I don’t want to be known as a gay football player.’ I know exactly what he’s saying.”
