Rihanna Thought Nelson Mandela Was Dead

Troubled singer Rihanna made a terrible mistake on Twitter.com early this morning when she sent out a tweet indicating that Nelson Mandela was dead. Thinking that Rihanna had advanced knowledge of his death, the media scrambled to confirm the death -- only to learn it wasn't true.

Narcissists think very highly of themselves, but President Barack Obama is not your average run-of-the-mill narcissist. Speaking at a fundraiser in NYC today, President Obama extolled his own virtues (since no one else will do it). He praised himself for doing more for his country than any other president in the past decade.

Stopping just short of comparing himself to Jesus (as John Lennon once famously did), Obama likened his humanitarian efforts to those of Ghandi and Nelson Mandela.

"The civil rights movement was hard. Winning the vote for women was hard. Making sure that workers had some basic protections was hard," said President Obama, explaining what happened to that change he promised Americans.

"Around the world, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, what they did was hard. It takes time. It takes more than a single term. It takes more than a single president. It takes more than a single individual," Obama said.

That's funny. That's exactly what I said: that a single individual -- namely, Barack Obama, couldn't do all the things he was promising that he would do if he was elected. But you voted him into office anyway.

"What it takes is ordinary citizens who keep believe, who are committed to fighting and pushing and inching this country closer and closer to our highest ideals. And I said in 2008, 'that I am not a perfect man and I will not be a perfect president.' But I promised you, but I promised you, I promised you back then that I would always tell you what I believe. I would always tell you where I stood," he also said at a fundraiser in NYC.
