Personally, I don’t think Nader was calling Obama out as an Uncle Tom, but maybe he should have chosen another term to make his point since “Uncle Tom” is so racially offensive to both blacks and whites.

Anyway, I agree with Nader that Obama totally ignored poor blacks during his campaign. The excuses I kept hearing was Obama already knows blacks will vote for him, blah blah blah.

Sadly I don’t think anything will change. Obama will continue to ignore the poor and disenfranchised in this country because they don’t fit into his agenda.

Ralph Nader dont know ish, he was part of the reason why Bush got elected the first term. What Ralph Nader said was not inflammatory to me. It was a legitimate question had he not been talking about President Elect Obama. Barack has proven himself to be an agent for the poor and disenfranchised for 20 years. His community service is above reproach. Nader is holding the fact that the man knew what to do to get elected against him. What I think is the most glaring thing about Nader is that he is an extremely poor loser. Instead of celebrating the historic moment, he’s out here b*tching and moaning. That is not very presidential. That is b*tcha$$ness.

So did he stop caring about poor black people like the ones he helped get abestos removed from there apartments, do some reserch he got his start helping poor black people whcih was a chioce he made that he did not have to make he could have had a high power lawyer job and not have to have dealt with the “community organizer” jokes but he did make a sacrifice and I believe he will continue that work in the White House. I do not think he is obligated to have a black agenda he needs to have an agenda that will move America as a whole forward. The black fight has always been about equality so why do some feel that he now should be like black this and black that…is that equality?

The white man was introduced to Uncle Tom during the Clarence Thomas debacle. They now know beyond a shadow of a doubt what an Uncle Tom is and Ralph Nader knows full damn well that Barack is not an Uncle Tom. on a happier note we got our president Obama luncheon today. mrs joann done brought collards, tammy done brought a slab of ribs, jaun mac and cheese and keisha done brought fried chicken. lol i my self brought my famous sweet potato pie with marshmallows.

I am still smiling. Ralph Nader is an idiot. I saw him speak my first year in college. All of the students walked out before he was done. President Obama does not need to be the voice of the black people. He will help all people. I have a question since when do they call the new president President-elect? I need a history lesson here. I must say that I disagree with the use of the phrase “Uncle Tom”, but his question is legit. Support of the bailout, the Patriot Act, HR1955, and the continuance of funding the Iraq war proves that he (Obama) places big business before the needs of the people.

The American people will continue to sustain big business and corporate welfare before the wellbeing of themselves as long as they remain deaf, dumb, and blind to the truth. Freedom and liberty are being stripped away right before your eyes.

The president is always called president elect until he actually takes office at the inauguration in January. It is written in the Constitution. You may just have not noticed it before. It still sounds damn good to me. PRESIDENT ELECT OBAMA. Yeah, that’s music to my ears.

My guess is because we the people elected him. The votes were counted. We know Bush was not elected. We were cheated.

I think you have made an interesting (albeit incorrect) assumption Ms. Sandra. First assuming that blacks own the right to the terms poor and disenfranchised.

You must forget that Barack Obama’s roots are in helping the poor and disenfranchised as a community organizer in Chicago. I believe the last plan of attack against Obama was him being a socialist and “wealth- spreader”. So if the poor and disenfranchised (who are actually of many races America) are not a part of his agenda… Who is he sreading the wealth to exactly? And when he refers to being his brother and sister’s keeper, if not the poor and disenfranchised… then who is he keeping?

So if everyone signed off on the bailout, how is he pointing fingers at obama for signing it too. Well this is nothing new, Nader is a loser and needs to go shoot himself. I understand is questioning which to some extent is legit, but it could of been worded alot better. Every president faces the same obstacles on whether they are going to work for the people or for big business. I believe ‘poor’ people fall under the $250-200k range… It seems that most of the people that are really upset is the ones that are making over $200k a year.. too bad, get over it…

On another note, did anyone see south park last night? They did the election and it was hilarious.

why does obama need to single out poor black people? why does he specifically need to mention them? wouldnt he be discriminating against other races if he did that? should he do that just because he’s black? he’s not just representing black people, he’s representing everyone. this is right up there with the black people not being recognized in his campaign commercials comment. he’s not just a representation for black people. when are people, more so black people, going to realize that he’s representing everyone and this isnt a black or white or whatever color thing. if he’s going to mention the poor, he’s going to mention EVERYONE thats poor and not just the po lil black ones.

To be completely honest…although I don’t think Obama will ignore black citizens, I’d rather be ignored by a black President then continue to be ignored by the white republican Presidents that have ran this country for decades.

They did call Bush “President – Elect” 8 years ago….after the recount…LOL He was not called “President – Elect” 4 years ago, b/c he was already President.

Bush is still the President of the United States.
