Hey Sandra!
I know its been a loooong time since I spoke with you. My daughter (now age 3) was posted on your site and it was said that she had weave, perm, and will grow up to be bald. Everyone thought I was a ghetto unfit mom and had plenty to say about what she would grow up to be. I guess it was too hard to believe that a black baby could have naturally pretty hair that didnt need chemicals and extensions to look like that. well I’m sending you pics I took of her this weekend, she got her hair WASHED, BLOW-DRIED, and FLATIRONED this weekend so that she could update her portfolio/compcard with a different look than her normally big curly hair. your reader’s jaws will drop when they see 2 years later her hair is STILL beautiful, chemical free, and healthy! Most of them pay a fortune each year for that
Since we last spoke, she has done work in film (Notorious), commercial, and print ads like Target, Children’s Place, Amway Global, Joe Fresh, and more.
Anyway, her latest photos of her new hairdo, as well as photos of her big curls are on her page. I also attached one to the email http://www.facebook.com/pages/Official-Taylor-Dior/119853194704085

Am i reading and understanding correctly? A WASHED, BLOW-DRIED, and FLATIRONED on a 3 year old? I’m only 22 w/ no kids, is this normal? It don’t sound normal to me. And that look makes her look alot of older than 3 if thats what i’m understanding. cute kid…
Who cares if this baby has long hair. Can she say her ABC’s and 123’s?
but i remember tha post though lol but i agree with mom’s about how ppl can find it hard to believe that a black person can have long. My hair is permed, and i hate it wen ppl try to run their hand through to make sure its real….ish annoying
wow. that’s beautiful. it looks like a full weave. she’s lucky
I blame this on Beyonce

I doubt they care as long as baby is in movies, ads, commercials…..
@Ebony I totally agree…who cares about a three y/o hair. But anyways I hate seeing a little girl ith her hair down, my mom and grandma didn’t let me let my hair down til I was 9.
@ici
9…i was about 13 wen i first got my hair straigtened….
That picture of her as baby is too cute…her eyes were so big and pretty =))
@starr I only got to wear it on special occassions.I hated sitting on the stool while my grandma hot combed my hair but 13 was the right age. My grandma used to say girls with their down gro up to be fast lol
@starr
Me to that shyt gets under my skin…. “is that your real hair?” Yes it is bish and I still rock a mean lace front… what you know about it… That’s a pet peeve of mine keep your hands out my hair..
She is adorable!!
Why is she getting her hair flat ironed at the age of 3? I had long thick hair as a child and I still do. I didn’t get my hair pressed until I was like 12. And I don’t have any kids either but that doesn’t sound normal to me either.
This young lady very well may know her abc’s and 123’s. the mom was addressing the issues about the hair. And to threw a shamles plug about her modeling and acting career.
Ithink her point was “yall” were being judgemental then and u doing again. LMAO
Pretty little girl! That is all
Pretty little girl…..
She’s a beautiful girl & as a mom myself I understand her wanting to defend her child. But when you put pics up (or someone who has access to them) like this on the internet you shouldn’t be surprised @ the scrunity, whether it’s truth or not.
Awwhh she’s still a pretty little girl & her hair looks pretty & healthy.
She was a beautiful baby and a beautiful little girl. I hope she goes far.
She must be pretty cause Shay1 NEVER post anymore on SR made her come out the woodworks *waves*
Beautiful little girl, I purposely skipped that post due to the lack of common sense and brain cells that some posters had/have…these pics make me want to
as I look at Diva’s hair…or lack there of
Anyways cue the dumb good hair >:( ):< bad hair debate in 5….4….3…2…1

I agree. She received alot of negative press from the blogs and has the right to defend herself and her daughter. Taylor is beautiful and Im sure she’s a smart kid.
Beautiful little girl with gorgeous hair! No matter what age she is, the point her mother was making was appropriate IMO. Glad to know she’s getting her work on. We need to see more pretty little black girls in movies and on t.v.

THAT’S THE SAME SHYT I WAS THINKING.AND THEN SHE SAID SOMETHING BOUT “PRETTY HAIR” DO PPL STILL USE THAT TERM? WOW!
Well dang aint she a cutie pie! Awh hi boo boo! Gorg!
She is a cutie w/beautiful hair. In 7 yrs I can see her rebelling for being a “hair” guinea pig and taking scissors to her own hair. I know her mom is tryng to build her portfolio. Can we see pics of her playing in the sand box, or with other kids playing kids games?
I SEE FEW REALLY UNDERSTOOD THE MOTHER’S POV. YES THE PEOPLE ON HER WAS VERY JUDGMENTAL. SHE STATED THEN THAT HER BABY WHO WAS NOT AN INFANT AT THE TIME WAS INDEED AN ACTOR,I REMEMBER HER SAYING SHE WOULD BE DOING NOTORIOUS AS WELL. I HAVE A FEW FRIENDS WHO FLATIRON THEIR DAUGHTERS HAIR AFTER THEY WASH IT, SOME AS YOUNG AS THREE AS WELL.
ANNA YOU COULD BE RIGHT, I HAVE A FRIEN(AFRICAN AMERICAN) WHO MARRIED A MAN FROM NICARAGUA, BOTH OF THEIR DAUGHTER’S HAIR IS LIKE THE FATHERS FINE AND CURLY, WHEN SHE WAS ABOUT ONE HER FRATERNAL GRANDMOTHER WANTED HER TO GET A HAIR CUT, MY FRIEND ASKED HER WAS SHE CRAZY! HER DAUGHTER IS 16 NOW, SHE CUT DANG NEAR ALLL OF HER HAIR OFF! SHE HAS LIKE A HALLE BERRY BOB NOW…..
The baby is in the business. Her mother is using natural measures to care for her hair, and I think it’s gorgeous. Actually, flat ironing is healthier than pressing.
Beautiful!
Chile do you and your daughter. You start this mess now and you will be defending forever. Take a page from Katie…you dont see her on blogs defending Suris 11 yrs old sippy cup using high heels wearing self :lolol:
Baby girl is so cute and I remember the foolishness that was posted about her mother back then……
What’s her point.. Who cares, really! I’m more concerned about the economy, jobs, the oil spill, russian spies….
“Most of them pay a fortune each year for that”

I don’t remember this post but I can imagine some of the comments. The mom was addressing the issue about the way people reacted to her daughter’s hair. People can be very judgmental and critical over the internet. I am guilty of it too and I try to work on it. LOL.
Anyway, this girl is a cutie. And, having your hair straighten at such a young age can make you look grown. But, who cares? Maybe, it is easier to manage when straight.
Slow news day…… Let me get back to True Life.

@starr
Can you blame them? Look how well it turned out for Lindsay Lohan, Gary Coleman, Todd Bridges… maybe she’ll get lucky and turn out like the girl from Family Matter … She had nice hair too, which is important in the porn biz.
POSTERS LIKE YOU NICOLA IS THE REASON SHE IS STILL DEFENDING HER DAUGHTER. SANDRA WAS IN THE MIX AS WELL WHEN SHE FIRST POSTED THE BABY’S PHOTO. I AM QUITE SURE THE MOM IS MAKING SURE HER CHILD RECEIVE SOME KIND OF TUTORING IF SHE IS NOT IN SCHOOL. I REMEMBER PEOPLE RANTING AND RAVING ABOUT SOLANGE’S SON AND HOW HE PROBABLY DOEN’T KNOW HIS ABC’S AS WELL….FOOLED THE HELL OUT OF A LOT OF YOU!
Hi Ebony,
Yes Taylor knows her ABC’s and 123’s…in English and Spanish…she’s VERY smart and education is a priority…sadly, noone made fun of how smart she was, noone made a big deal about it…everyone was ONLY fascinated about her hair as a baby and how she would end up being bald. So that’s why you see her “hair” on this site and not a story about how she can already read, write her full name, and spell. BUT if her intelligence is what you are more concerned about, then GREAT…take a look at facebook where I will upload videos of her reading.
The lil girl is cute! Sad that a bunch of grown ass adults feel the need to hate for whatever reason. Anyway Taylors mommy is your husband/boyfriend/Taylors father also black? Are you mixed with anything down the line? Just curious.
cute lil girl!!
NEXT!!!!! THIS is news????
Sigh… it’s only hair!
borderlineamazing, her dad and I are both black…we both have a mixed ancestry, however (family generations back were of other races)…we both have siblings with hair texture similar to Taylor’s.
Healthy hair is good hair whether it’s kinky or straight.
And why is that people believe that you have to have some sort of mixed ancestry in order to have long healthy hair if you’re black? Just wondering.
I agree
I think GOOD HAIR is ANY hair WELL KEPT and in good CONDITION
Thats right Daisy
(it should really be iced T for this hot azz weather)
Pretty lil girl.. my oldest has hair this long although it isn’t wash and curl, she has thick tight spirally hair, very soft and not nappy. I will never and have never used chemicals in her hair but she’s been getting it pressed since she was around 3 maybe 4 and it is very healthy although its lost some of its natural bounciness over the years which makes me slightly regret it but with 4 kids in 5 years and 3 of them girls I needed to be able to manage her hair. I’ve also been stopped and treated like I’m mentally retarded by strangers, family and friends because I refuse to put her in the business because I feel that it can be highly damaging to kids and their esteem plus their overall behavior and morale as they get older and lose the cute, adorableness that comes with age. Few child actors and models can continue working once they hit that awkward stage around the puberty years. @Taylor’s mom I applaud your sticking up for your daughter and based on your earlier comment it appears you are raising a well rounded yet beautiful child I just hope that she remains grounded as she grows older and sees that life is more than being beautiful
Lol@ the emoticon drinking coffee. Cracks me up everytime.
She’s cute
Daisy – LOL! Ok, I cant remember the last time. Me and BF was just talking about not posting…..but I read.
Actually let me correct that and add something her hair isn’t this long its to the middle of her back though it was also mid back when she was the same age as this little girl and Anna, my hair was always really long and soft although I have major “naps” and when I hit 13 I started cutting it and will let it grow every few years when I get lazy, but usually keep it short and can’t stand weaves or wigs because I know I could have long hair if I wanted it but have never been particularly pressed about my hair. In my teens I would throw in a ponytail or have pieces added back when updos and ponytails were the in thing but I did it knowing one of two things that either a). Underneath the weave my hair was just as long and thick or b). It was for one style usually homecoming or prom and that my hair was short because I wanted it to be not because I couldn’t grow long hair. I’ve never understood the obsession so many black women have with hair, not cutting babies hair boys and girls cause its too “pretty” so these lil boys are running around looking like girls with hair down their back past the baby age and lil girls with perfect hair but no education, bad grammar, can’t speak but can shake their ass and look “cute” (both huge peeves of mine) and those with naturally curly hair sporting wet gelled down baby hair and curls just to show their hair type (ala Chili). There is so much more to life than having good hair and especially out here in LA everyone seems to be focused on the exterior, trying to push cute kids into acting and modeling while ignoring and looking down or feeling bad about the kids who don’t come out model perfect. I can’t count how many times I’ve heard dumb broads talking about how all they want is a kid with caramel complexion and good hair and I want to smack them cause whatever happened to wanting a healthy happy baby and being happy about that. Or seeing newborns with bows and barrettes pulling on their lil baby hairs smh let me stop cause I could go on all day
I’m not quite sure why you think she’s a hair guinea pig…is it because her hair got blow dried? Not every child with long hair cuts their hair…In 7 years she may very well still want long hair…She’s not a “hair” guinea pig, GOD gave her this hair…we had no choice in the matter. It’s very rare to see such a head of hair on a 3 y/o. It’s what God gave her, noone else had much to do with it. No manipulation used to maintain her hair normally. Her hair is worn in an up-do 99% of the time (when at school, activities, weekends). I normally wash it and it air dries and all the curls shrivel up to shoulder length. It was a nice relief to let her hair down and show a different side for some updated photos. Being 3 doesnt mean she always has to wear it in a curly ponytail or twists. Actually, everyone in her preschool wears their hair down so its very common and normal. She wears it up in 2 pigtails at school because its hard to maintain if I let the curls tangle for a whole day. God gave her versatile hair that looks good up or down, curly or straight, but that doesnt make her anyone’s guinea pig. Also, Taylor loves her long hair (partially because of the image she sees of the girls at school), she likes when she can wear it down for special occasions and especially when I let them blowdry it last week she said she “looks like mommy”. That photo you guys see is one out of hundreds we took last week. None of the others were of her hair like that…that was an action shot and I just happened to catch it. We dont make use her as a demonstration model, we dont make her think her hair is the main focus. It was just timing of snapping away, and when I saw the shot I was amazed at her hair and it reminded me of all of the people on here LOL. She may LOOK older but she’s still groomed and dressed like a little girl. I take her to get a mani and pedi every now and then with me as well, is that too much for a 3 year old? She’s not wearing fake lashes, wigs, heals, skin tight clothing, smoking, cursing, sporting super tight braids that pull her edges out, bamboo earrings. Your comment is your opinion and VERY welcome. I’m not upset or deeming my post as “the answer”, because there is no right or wrong here. BUT it definitely shows that your comment about how she will be in 7 years is what this blog is all about to begin with because 2 YEARS AGO MANY PEOPLE SAID MY DAUGHTER WOULD BE BALD AND THAT COULDNT HAVE BEEN HER REAL HAIR IN THE PHOTO AND SHE HAD A RELAXER AND HAIR PIECES IN. YEARS LATER, IT IS HEALTHY, FULL, LONG, AND REAL. Maybe I’ll be back in 7 years to let you know if Taylor took a scissor to her hair for being a guinea pig
She’s a beauty!! I don’t agree with the flat ironing though, nor the blowdrying either. Children’s hair should be air dried imo, all that heat can’t be good for their hair. But that’s just me, I grew up in a different era, I’m old-fashioned.
that is a beautiful lil girl, really. it was easy for me to believe it was her hair because that runs in our fam and it’s nuttin for the girls to have hair like that, all natural all real (like her 3 y/o pic).
they don’t do this to her hair every day. she’s prolly in braids or something simple on her non working days. it’s a chore to do all that hair every single day.
@Taylor Dior:
You can try to argue your point ad baculum but in the end people will believe what they want to believe.
What a Cutie!
yea true…not argueing, just saying hehe
@TaylorDior
Little kids are soo cute. So no shade. But what is “naturally pretty hair”?
It’s not about her hair! Clearly she has some sort of mixed ancestry if you knew anything about race/biology and SHE IS of mixed ancestry. Generations ago or not it has showed up and is evidenced in her.
@Taylor I don’t remember the original post on here but I agree with Rinola that its senseless to argue with those who you don’t know about your child rearing or the realness of your childs hair. Especially two years after the original post because with each defense or counter it seems more like promotion of Taylor’s great beauty and skills. I mean that with no harm, you’re clearly a doting mother but really as Rinola said it makes no sense to argue because regardless of what we may say on here you know your child and nothing said on here will change what you know to be true about her
As I pretty much said before, I’m not arguing with anyone. Just clarifying because for SOME people, the clarification does help.
Hi QueenSJ, naturally pretty hair is hair that naturally looks the way people process their hair to look. I definitely dont think that only straight hair is pretty…pretty is kinky, thick, fine, full, curly…many things…its moreso ANY look that ppl buy at stores or use chemicals to achieve. The original blog over my daughter’s hair (the controversial pic is above) had comments from some ppl saying it couldnt be real, they saw hair pieces, I used a relaxer to get it like that, I used gel and hair products on an infant…so I was just saying her hair was “naturally” like that not manipulated as many had suggested…hope that makes sense.
and even an afro is nice hair…people buy that at the store as well…as a wig

Don’t take what I said too personally. When I see “Toddlers & Tieraa”, I look at those moms and shake my head. Most of those little girls are rude and already “Divas”. LOL. I did read the comment that you have many more pics on your fb page with your daugther looking like alittle girl(not that she does not in the pics on this post). Her hair is absoultely beautiful. In the first pic with what Sandra calls the “Wash & Curl” what mom did not do this to their childs hair? I know I did. It’s a fun “out of the tub look”. Taylor knows how to smile and I love her name. I always wanted a child named “Taylor” but being my name is Anna Taylor, if I did get blessed to have a child, “Taylor Taylor” sounds stupid. I have a child named Lisa, but I did not name her “Lisa Lisa”.(we have been calling her Lisa, Pizza for two decades). LOL.
LOL! too funny! Taylor loves getting dolled up but not like a pageant girl…and Taylor isnt rude and obnoxious like a lot of the girls on the show (well sometimes she walks over her daddy cause hes not big on discipline LOL) but she’s a normal toddler despite any industry experience. She attends school, loves watching Nick Jr, has a very diverse group of friends, loves gymnastics and swim class, loves learning, and spends tons of time with her parents. Her life is not a fashion show everyday. But yes there are times where she is modeling/auditioning and she loves that as well…I dont hope for her to be Lindsay Lohan or Todd Bridges either lol you guys are hilarious

Taylor’s MOM. Most of the SandraRose fam say what we say out of fun and it seems you are a good sport and are not calling us “out our name”. We as a community have made it a point long ago that kids are “off limits”. I am 43 and my mom did not know the slightlest thing of a flatiron, let along a hot iron for “semi)not all white hair. I still to this day want to take “scissors” to my hair. LOL. It’s hot as fish grease yesterday, today and tomorrow as it will be all week. I am on staycation and I will probably go back to work with a Halle short cut.
i cannot believe with the state of the world today yall nicca’s debating about HAIR~!!!!!!! this is why the black race are TRULY lost as a people we still debating about light-skinned and dark-skinned and “good” and “bad” hair while indian and chinese children learning trig- WTF!!!!
AND I KNOW THIS IS A BLOG i for one am opposed to having “blog”ucations about children but to each its own
the child is beautiful by the way her hair just adds to it

Ok Now! Grease and water not gel was my friend. LOL. I am old and as a child had long “Piping Longstocking” Braids. I was my fams guinea pig.
Sandra, this mother sounds dumb as rocks. Who the fcuk feels like they have something to prove to anonymous folks on the internet and then post pictures of her minor child to bolster her point? I suspect folks called her a hoodrat because of her words and not the “pretty hair” her child has. How shallow, I hope this baby’s father can provide a balance to her mother’s displayed shallowness.
What is the problem with this little girl hair? It’s healthy and it’s hers. I don’t see a problem with her wearing her own hair down, little white kids @ that age do it all the time. Black folks i tell ya.
Pretty lil girl! Her hair is beautiful!
she is a beautiful little girl
Let me say this, why do people post pics of their children on the internet for all to see and then get offended if someone makes a negative remark about them? I am glad your daughter is smart, fluent in two different languages, pretty and has long hair. But why is that something that you feel like you need to share with the world? I feel like you are exploiting her! Your child isn’t the only black child that is intelligent, pretty, long haired child, in the world! Won’t be the last. See it’s something deeper then the need for you to defend your daughters hair going on here. I am not sure what, but that’s just my opinion.
She is so cute , hair is beauiful , but why are we making a big deal about hair .
Beautiful
how natual is flat ironing and blow drying?…..why would you do that on a 3 year old child….who…if you continue with this process….will indeed be thined out or bald by the end of it.
And that 1st pic…looks like a half wig….it just does…no diss
Ahhhh, she’s a cutie pie!
lol, i remember that lil girl! seems like mama just wants to brag but that’s ok. mama, i guarantee she will cut it short when she gets older (i know).
Umm for real?
a whole post? About some hair? Naturally pretty? Really. Y’all do too muchhhhhh.
This baby is pretty and has pretty hair but honestly this doesn’t warrant another post and picture not imo why does the mother feel as though she has something to prove-I would’ve taken the high and let her success speak for itself
@OTB
My point exactly
Naahhh eff that ask the mom again why she styled her daughter’s hair like that in the first pic-STILL GHETTO!
“It’s very rare to see such a head of hair on a 3 y/o.”
____________________________________________
Not true – not where I come from. But if you raise her to believe she’s somehow special or “rare” because of her hair… sigh.
IMO — rare is a child who graduates college at 10 or conjoined twins… HAIR? Not so much.
@biglegs36 says:
KaraZ – actually, if anyone read my posts and your posts they would think you are the dumb one…my words didnt make me a hoodrat…Before I ever posted on SR, people saw the pic that Sandra posted and right away started saying we must be ghetto and I’m wrong for putting weave and perm in an infant’s hair…had nothing to do with anything I said because I had no idea her pic was even on the site until a friend told me.
Crystal yes I agree with you! white and indian and Asian kids of all ages wear their hair down all the time…my daughter is the only black girl in her class and she’s the only one who wears her hair up everyday. I only do that because she has curls that tangle easily so i keep it twisted and up to avoid it. but not because I think 3 y/o shouldnt keep their hair out.
biglegs36…I post pics of my child online because she is in the industry…she will be seen regardless…its a networking tool…I also love facebook because family and friends from out of state can stay updated as well. it’s not that I get offended of a negative remark i get offended of incorrect remarks stated as facts like “she’s going to be bald”, “this mother should be slapped for putting a perm in her baby’s hair”, “why did she give her infant a wash and curl”…etc. I shared the fact that she is smart because one poster asked does she know her alphabet and numbers, simple.
ggouch…its normal to get your hair blow dried once you have tons of it…actually when my daughter hair air dries it looks very dry and is hard to comb through making it painful for both of us…the reason for this ONE TIME blow dry in our case was to get photos of her with a different look since all of her pics are of big curly hair. the reason i put it in caps that they only blow dried and flattened her hair was because I didnt want ppl to miss the fact that it wasnt permed.
Choco…I styled her hair like that in the first pic because she just came out of the bath (explains the no clothes) and her hair was still wet. as I brushed it, I thought it looked cute slicked down but I left it curly in the front. This wasnt how she left the house and the pic wasnt intended to show the world what I did. I uploaded the photo on my personal page and someone who was on my friendslist who must have also been a reader of SR, took the pic and sent it to SR. Really it was an innocent style nothing besides water and a brush was used and we were in our house. I’m sure many moms played in their child’s hair or played dress up as a baby.
Rinola…it’s rare imo for a black 3 y/o to have that much hair past their butt (they trimmed her ends as well)…she has longer hair than many non-ethnic kids in her preschool class as well actually. She’s not being raised to think anything…she’s 3…she’s not reading this blog. just as it is rare to see a print ad with a black child with blue eyes, it is rare to see a print ad with a black child next to a white child with hair just as equally long and full…why is it important if its only hair? its not, i’m just responding to a post. her hair isnt a defining factor in her life. its just a part of her. just funny that so many ppl said she’d be bald after seeing the first pic.
everyone else…thanks
Why are we still talking about this when there are so many more important things going on in the world right now.
Ummmmm really?
@Taylor Noir – you seem like a great mommy who just wants the best for her child. I wish Taylor the very best! She’s a beautiful lil girl who seems to be full of life and very well-rounded. That’s a good look.
@Taylor’s Mom:
Stop responding to negative people with ignorant comments. This is the main reason I no longer post. You’re right, people do play in their kids hair out of the tub (thus my gravatar). And SO WHAT if you got her hair blow dired and flat ironed for promo pics..Many of us couldn’t even get a comb through ours as kids, if we didn’t use a straightening comb, so I feel you. YOU ARE HER MOTHER..plain and simple..she is beautiful, smart, and well-adjusted. That’s all that matters.
A wise man said, never argue with fools…All the best to you and your beautiful baby!
*Looks back over shoulder..shakes head..slams blog door..and walks out*
This statement from this woman: guess it was too hard to believe that a black baby could have naturally pretty hair, says it ALL about how many Black people stay dumb and ignorant.
In my humble opinion, the hair that most Black babies have is in fact PRETTY in it’s natural state, strong and black as God intended it to be.
It’s quite depressing that so many Black people in this day and age are still so woefully clueless as to just how brainwashed they truly are…

MistaO I’m neither dumb nor ignorant…my daughter has naturally pretty hair, without needing any chemicals or extensions as ppl suggested. i said nothing about other black kids hair not looking nice in its natural state…healthy looking hair, full head of hair – THAT is pretty hair in my opinion…whether long or short or any texture. I’ve seen nice, pretty hair in all colors shapes and forms. I was stating that is was hard for the readers to believe that it was my daughter’s REAL, NATURAL hair. nothing at all ignorant or dumb about that statement. Maybe you read it out of context. DUMB and IGNORANT were the people saying she had a weave and perm and wash&set at 5 mths of age.

I mean really and in 2010? I am just going to shut it up, mums the word for me
good and bad hair, healthy and unhealthy hair, etc. is in all ethnicities. I have many white friends and co-workers who dont like their hair, who add pieces and extensions to make it appear fuller or longer, who have super thin strands of hair, who have flat hair…so when i say my daughter’s hair is pretty i am not being one of these “black ppl staying dumb”…full thick and healthy comes in all races, just as think limp and unhealthy hair comes in all races. it honestly has nothing to do with race. my little sister has super course hair but very full and thick and looong (think rudy huxstable as a child) and I think her hair is pretty as well. nothing dumb about it.
Anyway, I appreciate the debate guys…
@Taylor thanks for keeping it classy and not calling names unlike others. Now I will say some ppl went back and read the 1st post and didnt see any comments calling you ghetto or what have you (I didnt go back and read so I dont know).
@heaven
IMO the post isnt about good hair vs bad hair (a debate I am so over as well) its about Taylor promoting her daugther which is her right regardless if you agree or disagree.
this is a really sad post, not because of what the mother is saying, but because black people are still having a debate about hair! my God I have never cared about someone’s hair. I started getting my hair pressed at the age of 2, my grandmother did it on holidays. She was not young, ghetto, or ignorant. So her hair being flat ironed is not out the norm to me. I have to perm my hair and my husband’s hair is not straight, but our two daughters have hair that never has to be permed ever. That issue never comes up in our house but I am realizing that other people put so much emphasis on that fact. GET OVER IT BLACK PEOPLE!!!! WE ARE ALL OF MIXED RACE SO SOME WILL HAVE SOME THINGS THAT OTHERS DONT! WHO CARES!!! THAT’S THE BEAUTY IN BEING US, WE HAVE SO MANY DIFFERENT SHADES AND TEXTURES THAT ARE ALL EQUALLY BEAUTIFUL. GOOD DAY PEOPLE AND BEST OF LUCK TO TAYLOR IN THE FUTURE!!!!
To be honest, the only reason you don’t see children at her age and race with hair that long is because alot of parents do not know how to properly take care of natural hair. This is why they tend to perm,texturize etc. their child’s hair. I have all boys and at that age their hair was that length and 2 of them was longer and they have different textures. As far as the black culture, I feel there is always some type of mixed heritage down the line somewhere..due to the fact from slavery days when black women were raped.
I feel your pain when it comes down to what people say, I have been asked those question and have had people grabbed my boys hair to see if it was real. I just ignore it. I’ve never blowdried, or even straightened their hair because they are boys. I have heard of parents who blow drydry and straighten their childs hair only for a trim and to see their true length. I on the other had have been trimming my boys hair since they were 2 years old. I feel pretty/beautiful or whatever they call it hair is healthy hair no matter the texture.
I don’t understand the point of this post… Who cares that her hair is still the same and it got longer and looks good… Who really cares! Smdh at someone who is focusing on their child’s hair and posting picks on a blog for all the chester molesters to see…
it will be something to see her hair 10 years from now. Is there a such thing as floor length?
hi Daisy… I just did a quick “find” in that old article…4 people said it was ghetto…
“It’s kind of ghetto to have such a “grown and sexy” look on a baby.
It’s hella ghetto to put that hairdo on a baby. Even a child of 8 is to young to wear that hair style. Whoever did this babies hair needs a new hobby.
the style is a lil bit ghetto and not age appropriate, of course, but damn baby got HAIR in order to rock dat style!
the baby is cute, no question but that hairdo makes her look like a ghetto baby. gel on a baby?? straight out of compton.”
ppl also said that because my mother looks young, we’re just a ghetto family…that was in a followup post that Sandra posted a week later.
I definitely learned to have tough skin after finding out about Sandra’s site, that was the first time anyone in my fam experienced that. Now I take what ppl say and dont lash out, I just try to clarify if I can…
Okay. Does thou protest too much?
I guess she told you!
She is a beautiful child. She has a great head of hair. It’s not uncommon to see little black girls who have very long hair, I have two. I don’t rave about it to them or anyone else, but I have had to get on a preschool teacher or two for “playing” in it. Let’s not let it be about the hair all the time, I suspect her mother touched a nerve for some.
It’s something else going on here. In pic your daugther was a lil baby and now she is three. So you came back with updated pics to prove a point to a bunch of strangers on the internet? Really!
She didnt tell me anything cause I said I didnt check the old post that was what others said which was stated in my post (if that comment was directed at me if not apologies) I said she told yall way back when
I dont go in on anybody (unless required) and def not kids.
Glad you have thicker skin now you will need it.
oh Daisy I knew what you meant, I was just showing you since your friends said there were no “you’re ghetto” comments hehe. wasnt trying to go in on you or anyone else.
ok everyone, cheers to a healthy discussion and even healthier hair! LOL
P.S. I received several emails about hair care and getting into show biz…I will respond to all of them soon.
I’m sure the baby pic was having fun with hair like you give baby’s a faux hawk or part on side just for fun! Geesh guys!
My hair was to my waist growing up too but not at 3! Why is this an issue?
We talked before – wishing you the best on auditions and gosees
