It was one of those astonishing moments when a celebrity is caught on national television like a deer in the proverbial headlights. It occurred when ABC anchor Katie Couric, who was interviewing the cagey singer Beyonce, reached over, and without warning rubbed the baby bump that has been at the center of controversy for months.
Beyonce appeared startled as she reached down reflexively when Katie copped a feel. “I’m sorry, am I allowed to do that?” Katie asked as she snatched her hand back.
When a woman caresses another woman’s baby bump, the moment usually passes quickly between the two women.
But Katie’s hand returned to groping Beyonce’s baby bump a second time — as if Katie wasn’t confident that what she felt the first time was actually a human baby.
It was clear that Katie was performing a tactile examination of Beyonce’s baby bump, which was first introduced to the world in September at the MTV VMAs. Prior to that, no one knew the 30-year-old was pregnant.
Judging from Couric’s reaction afterwards, it was clear that she still had her doubts that Beyonce’s baby bump was real. But Couric never expressed those doubts on the air. We wish we could have been a fly on the wall when Katie told her friends what she really thought about the baby bump!

I am far for a Beyonce stan but I’m going to stand up for her today.
I know a lot of pregnant women right now, and they HATE when people, especailly STRANGERS, touch their stomachs. They tell me stories of people in the store, the bank, on the street, reach and stroking their stomachs. That’s private. I would be annoyed too. I was shocked random people felt it was ok to touch a complete stranger!

What I learned from this interview is that despite the media always catching Bey in her new ride she does still fly.
Yeah they spent more time showing those old azz video footage then they spent interviewing her. When she talked about her new management company why didn’t Katie follow that up with “why did you fire your dad”
Journalist kiss too much azz in this day and age. They need to realize the artist need to do these interviews as much as they need to interview them. If certain artist keep making these “I’m not answering” demands then stop offering them these “exclusive” interviews. I bet they start talking then

Beyonce tries to act so centered. She tries to act like nothing gets to her and that she is the calming force for those around her. Just the blank dead look in her eyes provide strong evidence of a tortured, confused, and lonely soul. She has no warmth to her personality whatsoever. I find it funny that she answered all of the questions raised by different bloggers which leads me to believe that she reached out to be interviewed to try to “clear things up” (which she did not). Wish I would have seen this post sooner.
It’s natural to flinch or have a reaction of some sort when someone touches your belly, but is it natural to guide their hand to the middle of your stomach…twice? Katie Couric is a highly respected journalist who, Beyonce must have known, was going to rub Beyonce’s stomach. Katie’s not Ba’Lisha walking down the street trying to cop a feel.
Is it natural to run down the steps at 8 months pregnant, in heels, to hug someone? Is it natural to plop down in a swivel chair, bending forward (the shot at her office)? Maybe all of this suspicious activity is on the up and up, and maybe Beyonce really is an 8 month pregnant super woman with nothing to hide.

Katie Couric isnt just some woman off the street, Beyonce agreed to interview with her to share her intimate moments…. so to be terrified that Katie touched her belly is ridiculous. Beyonce is able to pull this off for people who dont have proper sense… she knows she can tell her fans she is Jesus and they would believe her.

When I was once pregnant, this chick at a Mcdonald’s I used to go to often, reached across the counter to touch my stomach, I popped her hand. I didn’t mean to, but it was instincts. I then apologized and just told her I wasn’t used to that so Bey’s reaction was normal.

Why do people who don’t like Beyonce watch every interview she ever does and know every move her and Jay make? I mean seriously, I learn more about Bey from people who supposedly don’t like her than I do from the actual “stans”.

Ok, so I’m super late, but that was kind of disturbing the way Bey jumped when Katie touched her belly. I have never seen that kind of reaction from a pregnant lady before……
smh people believe and see what they want to see and then try to convince others to see and believe it also. Nuts…….I know some woman who do not like people touching their stomach. It tends to be so annoying. Get over the Bey mess, it’s not healthy.
I don’t care about none of this other mess. I just don’t understand, how you can be considered a hater, just by not liking someone.
I’m not a fan of Beyonce’. Does that make me a hater. I don’t like pineapples. Am I hating on them too? Can we please kill that word, or at least refrain from using it, when referring to someone who just simply, does not like someone? #thatisall

MOST pregnant women, whether they know ur a$$ or not, will instinctively jump or move your hand when you go to touch their stomach, unless you are their partner/mother/sibling/ etc. so stop reading more into her reaction than what it is.
When your stomach is bulging out it doesn’t matter where someone touches the belly unless the baby is kicking at that very moment and they want to feel what it’s like. I’ve been pregnant people did touch my belly.
She’s pathetic if she is faking this because there are so many women who go through so much trying to get pregnant, overcome miscarriages, stillbirths, etc. and if she is using this for attention or she’s worried about her figure; all I got to say is God don’t like ugly.
OMG! When I watched this as it aired, the first thing I thought about was, “Did Sandra see that too?!” Unfortunately, I was unable to get online the last few days, but am glad I’m able to squeeze my 3 cents in!
