According to the rumor mill, the Los Angeles Lakers plan to sign free agent Shannon Brown who was cut by the Washington Wizards, despite a $3.5 million guaranteed contract. The announcement will be made today or Monday at the latest.
Brown, 27, was spotted practicing at a sports facility in Los Angeles Chicago today.
Brown was waived by the Wizards 3 days after he was acquired in a multi=player deal centered around Marcin Gortat. Brown, a 7-year NBA veteran, helped the fabled Lakers win back-to-back NBA titles in 2009 and 2010.
Despite clearing waivers on Wednesday, Brown was still unsigned by Friday. But that is expected to change soon.
Brown and singer Monica were wed in a private ceremony at their LA home in late 2010. Their daughter, Laiyah Brown, was born on September 3, 2013.
