Teleka Patrick missing

There is a new twist in the mysterious disappearance of a Michigan doctor. Authorities now know who Dr. Teleka Patrick cooked omelets and pancakes for in a scene from a bizarre romantic video. Patrick was reportedly obsessed with gospel singer Marvin Sapp, Target 8 News reports.

Patrick, a resident doctor at the Borgess Hospital in downtown Kalamazoo, vanished shortly after an unsuccessful attempt to book a hotel room on Dec. 5.

Police, who do not suspect foul play, had hoped YouTube videos would hold the key to Patrick’s disappearance. In one video, Patrick talks and sings to someone she refers to as “baby” and “love.”

In a request for a restraining order, the Grammy-nominated gospel singer wrote that Patrick was stalking him.

In the document Sapp wrote that Patrick began contacting him when she moved to West Michigan from California, “She has moved from CA to MI. [She] joined my church, contacts my children, and has been to my home,” he wrote.

Sapp said Patrick claimed him as her husband.

Target 8 News broke the story after contacting the Kalamazoo County undersheriff, who declined to confirm the personal protection order taken out by Sapp.

Sapp released a statement to Target 8 news Thursday evening:

“Throughout my career, my family and I have fallen victim to inappropriate attempts to contact me by several unknown individuals. As a father of three and pastor of one of the largest congregations in West Michigan, I cannot to take this kind of obsessive attention lightly. Given these previous acts, I have taken several security measures which have included obtaining a protective order to ensure our safety. Not only am I concerned about my family, I am deeply concerned about the well-being of all families. My prayers of love, safety, reconciliation and support are always and forever with God’s children.”

Family members called the revelations in the PPO “surprising” and “confusing.” They say Patrick did not have a romantic interest in anyone. The family believe Patrick is a victim of foul play. Off the record, police suspected Patrick may have staged her own disappearance to attract the attention of her mystery man.

Patrick’s family released a statement saying, “The days since [Teleka’s disappearance] have been the most brutal, maddening all-consuming thing we have ever faced,” the statement says.

The family set up a gofundme account to raise funds to assist in the search for Patrick. The fund has raised $35,000 so far.
