The husband of a missing New Jersey woman has been charged with killing her — even though her body has not been located.
26-year-old Erica Crippen Crosby went missing on Dec. 31, shortly after she was seen dining at a Cherry Hill restaurant with her husband Kyle Crosby, 28.
Kyle Crosby reported Erica missing the next day.
Police arrested Crosby after a traffic stop and brief foot chase. He was driving his wife’s red 2000 Ford Taurus. Burlington County prosecutors charged Crosby with murder on Tuesday morning.
Erica’s family told NBC10 that Kyle Crosby was a drug addict who had been released from drug rehab.
“It’s not like Erica to just walk out of the house and leave her kids,” said the victim’s cousin Sonay Ramos-Kellan.
Erica’s family searched her home and discovered a shower curtain missing as well as bed sheets.
The family member said Crosby went on a drug binge, and that he and another woman sold some of Erica’s clothes for drugs.
“If you all were arguing you could have come to me or walked away,” said Janiya Crippen, Erica’s sister. “Kyle, she loved you! She loved you so much! She really wanted you to do better! He was in a rehabilitation center last month, trying to get clean. She loved him. And she wanted him to be a better father to her kid.”
The couple got married last summer after Kyle was released from jail, said Crippen Crosby’s family. They have a 3-month-old daughter together. Erica has a 7-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
Crosby is being held in a county jail on $1.2 million bond. The search continues for Erica’s body.
