Bravo is set to premiere a new reality show that takes a detour from the usual messy fare of drama-filled scripted reality shows.
“Mother Funders” is an unscripted reality TV show that focuses on the fundraising efforts of a group of working moms and housewives who really know each other.
Unlike the Real Housewives of Atlanta, with its cobbled together cast of washed-up singers and strippers who pretend to be friends, Mother Funders stars 6 members of a Locust Grove, Georgia Parent-Teacher Organization who are all neighbors.
According to my well-placed source within Bravo, the show was originally supposed to be a scripted comedy. But they changed their minds and decided to make it an unscripted show with a little drama.
The diverse cast is comprised of 3 whites and 4 African Americans.
The PTO moms are all married (no one’s shacking up) and their children attend the same elementary school.
The source was tight-lipped about the cast, but he did name LaShon Thompson and ex-NFL player Fernando Bryant.
LaShon dated rapper Tip “T.I.” Harris for nearly 4 years. She is mom to his first 2 sons, Domani and Messiah, and she has a daughter with her current husband.
Bravo is scheduled to air the season premiere of Mother Funders on Mother’s Day, which is this coming Sunday, May 10.
I’m told the show will have the usual arguments, but no fighting. Guests will include current and retired basketball players and NFL players to help out with the fundraising events.
And in case you’re wondering, due to contractual obligations, VH1 will not allow T.I. to appear on a Bravo reality show.
