American power couple Beyonce and Jay Z Carter are breathing a sigh of relief. The couple was served with eviction papers last month and given 60 days to vacate their 16,000 square foot Holmby Hills rental.
According to Curbed LA Beyonce and Jay Z are moving to another massive rental not far from their old stomping grounds.
The Carters have agreed to pay $150,000 a month to rent out the decrepit 20,000 square foot house once owned by ex-Dodger Jamie McCourt and his buxom ex-wife in Holmby Hills.
The house sat empty for years after the McCourt’s divorced. Ms. McCourt had no luck selling the property — even after slashing $20 million off the list price.
Then the suckers, er, the Carters came along and toured the place. According to Curbed LA, they happily agreed to waste $150,000 a month on a place they might see 10 days out of the month.
Knowing Beyonce, the negotiations probably went like this:
McCourt: This place sat empty for years so give me your best offer.
Beyonce: Well, all we can afford is $150,000 a month.
McCourt: I’LL TAKE IT!
Jay Z to Beyonce: Didn’t I tell you to let me do the talking?
The Carters’s new digs features 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, an Olympic-sized indoor swimming pool with spa, steam, and massage rooms; a “gourmet commercial kitchen” that the McCourts paid $14 million to ship from their Massachusetts home; a library/screening room; dance studio; and an atrium.
Insiders whisper that Jay Z declined to buy a forever home with Beyonce because he fears losing the house to her in a divorce settlement. Smart man.
