Police in Long Island have arrested rapper Nicki Minaj‘s brother on charges of sexual assault of a minor.

Jelani Maraj, 37, was released on $100,000 bail after his arrest Thursday on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual misconduct against a child, according to online court records obtained by Newsday.

Jelani Maraj, of Baldwin, is accused of raping a 12-year-old child according to Newsday.

Nicki is close to her older brother whom she often references in her rhymes.

In “All Things Go,” she raps, “And I know Jelani will always love me and I’ll always love him / And I’m just his little sister, not Nicki Minaj when I’m around him.”

It isn’t clear if the minor is a girl or a boy.

As for not knowing the story, you are absolutely right, I don’t know the story. I do know that arrests and charges of this nature require serious evidence because the authorities rarely want to jump the gun on charges of this nature. As a mother and a decent human being if there is even a hint of anyone harming A CHILD then yes, I am on the side of the possible victim in this case until there is evidence that the accusations are baseless and the arrest is without merit. My husbands brother is a pervert and got kicked out of the military because he was fondling women while they were asleep.
