Devin Nunes

The Democrats are in an uproar after House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes revealed former President Obama spied on President Donald Trump while he was a candidate for president.

Politicians are calling for Congressman Nunes to recuse himself from the investigation into Trump’s alleged ties to Russia.

Lawmakers accused Nunes of “breaking the law” by disclosing classified information to the White House before sharing the information with the committee.

Nunes emerged from a closed door meeting with FBI Director James Comey on Wednesday, and told reporters, “The American people would not be comfortable reading what I have read regarding surveillance on Donald Trump.”

Nunes’ bombshell statements threw Comey under the bus and all but accused him of lying under oath about whether Obama had Trump under surveillance.

The reaction from the left was swift.

“Chairman Nunes’ actions today are abrupt departure from our committee’s bipartisan work,” said Congressman Joaquin Castro.

He added: “Scripture reminds us that a person cannot serve two masters, Chairman Nunes can either lead this committee to pursue the truth or choose to serve as advocate for President Trump.”

Congressman Adam Schiff was more blunt in a tweet: “Today, Chairman Nunes shared information with White House still withheld from our committee. He cannot conduct a credible investigation this way.”
