Rap mogul Tip “T.I.” Harris, 36, opened up about his turbulent 7-year marriage to estranged wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle in an interview with Power 105.1 in New York City.
As you know, Tameka filed for divorce from her husband earlier this year after she caught him hotel creeping with an Instagram model.
Things went quickly downhill after the couple tied the knot in 2010. T.I. says marriage is an overrated experience:
“It seems to me that marriage and what marriage means and what marriage does, it’s just of those things that’s going to distract me and determine. And that could be selfish, but ultimately, I’m the patriarch of this family. And it’s my responsibility to take us onward and upward. I just have a purpose and I don’t always have the time to do the thoughtful and considerate things that a husband should do.”
In response to a question about beefing with his estranged wife (whom he sees everyday when he’s in town, and whom he still sleeps with regularly).
“There’s no beef. Life we’re good. We’re straight. Everybody else got the problem. we see each other. We speak. We talk. We spend time together. We’re good. That’s still one of the best friends in the world that I’ve ever had. I can be a better best friend than a husband.”
In response to Tameka deserving alimony and child support for their 3 biological children, Tip said:
“Money is not an issue, I don’t care about that. Alimony pales in comparison to the potential of what I can produce if I’m focused and pushing forward.”
