President Trump fires Jim Comey

President Donald Trump has fired FBI Director James Comey. Some in Washington are saying it’s about time.

Comey learned he lost his job moments before his firing was announced publicly on Tuesday.

President Trump sent a letter to Comey on Tuesday that reads:

“Dear Director Comey, I have received the attached letters from the attorney general and deputy attorney general of the United States recommending your dismissal as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I have accepted the recommendation, and you are hereby TERMINATED!”

The bombshell news comes just hours after the FBI sent a letter to Congress on Tuesday, saying Comey misspoke when he said Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin had forwarded “hundreds and thousands” of emails to the laptop of her husband, former Rep. Anthony Weiner.

The FBI said Comey exaggerated the actual number of emails Abedin sent to Weiner’s laptop.

According to Fox News, Comey was fired for his mishandling of the Hillary Clinton email scandal last year. You may recall, Comey investigated Clinton’s illegal home server and determined she did nothing wrong.

Washington insiders criticized Comey for “playing God” and upending the 2016 presidential elections when he reopened the investigation into Clinton’s illegal email server just 2 weeks before the election.
