President Donald Trump is set to meet with Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov in the Oval Office at 10:30 a.m. today — just 17 hours after firing FBI Director James Comey, pictured center.
Sergei Lavrov, pictured right, last visited Washington in 2013 at the invitation of former U.S. President Barack Obama.
Comey’s termination caught the national news media off guard, and it proved that the Trump administration is capable of keeping secrets after successfully plugging leaks in the White House.
Comey himself learned about his termination at the same time we did — on the evening news on Tuesday. He was speaking to a room full of potential FBI agents in Los Angeles when the news flashed across the TV in the back of the room. Comey reportedly thought the announcement was a prank.
The response from the left to Comey’s firing is typical of whiny liberals who can’t accept the fact that their candidate lost the election. The media aired disparaging comments, fear mongering and scare tactics from the Democrats, who can’t make up their minds about who they hate more: Comey or Trump.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who just months ago said he’d lost confidence in Comey, now says Comey’s firing is a “big mistake.”
Today’s private meeting between President Trump and the Russian foreign minister is sure to stir up more comedic conspiracy theories about Trump colluding with the Russians.
