Do not approach me while I’m in the makeup chair unless I ask to speak with you directly. Either knock or use the doorbell.

I am seeking more free time for me throughout the day.

Do not wait in any hallway to speak to me. I hate being ambushed. Please make an appointment.

I promise you I will not entertain you in the hallway, and do not attempt to walk with me.

I’m torn. A group of my friends went to see it (them funky heffas knew I had to work late that night–but anyway) and they all panned it.
I still wanna see it bc, even though I broke up with Halle for Nicole Murphy–I still wanna support “us” whenever possible.
Folks complain about what they deem Tyler Perry’s “shuck and jive” movies—yet when 1 of “our” celebrities tries to make a middle of the road movie—we don’t support it, bc it’s corny, blah blah.
Do I think we should go see a movie just bc the star is AA? I damn sure do. Even if the movie sucks. Why? Bc if we don’t ….the yt PTB in Hollywood will say “See, we gave them Kidnapped, we gave them Tyler Perry as Alex Cross—and the box office numbers were abysmal! We’ll take 12 more Madea films…they’ll support THOSE!”
And even if we don’t support Madea movies, our absence at the other movies starring AA actors, is like an absentee vote in the face of the droves of folks that do support Madea.

I stop watching anything he does because he talks to his own like shit. Listening to him on his radio show turned me off. Blindly supporting AA that are terrible will produce more terrible AA films. Halle Berry makes a habit of continuously choosing Lifetime quality films to shoot. She needs to be more discerning in the roles she takes or humble herself and take smaller roles in independent films for less pay. Her career has steadily nosedived ever since she won that Oscar. If you want to make a difference for African American films, support black DIRECTORS more than black actors/actresses. Directors are going to be the people that change the black narrative for the better. Support indie films that don’t have the Hollywood machine behind them. This is what has created our Ryan Coogler’s, Ava Duvernay’s, Gina Prince-Bythewood’s & Antoine Fuquas (etc).. These black directors employ black and POC actors BUT also make great screenplays so we’re getting quality films that break down stereotypes and normalize black/POC lives.

I tried to watch it on the firestick after people told me it was on there. I watched about 45 minutes of it and couldn’t determine if it was just poorly written or bad acting for a serious role. I got tired of yelling at the tv and cut it off convinced that it was both. I haven’t tried to discourage anybody from going to see it though because I support Hally and she’s been promoting the hell outta this movie.
