Kenneka was spotted in surveillance footage staggering in the hotel lobby near the front desk around 3:20 a.m. Saturday. Police conducted another extensive search for Kenneka in the hotel. Her body was found around 1 a.m. Sunday in a walk-in freezer in the basement.
Police theorize that Kenneka, who they believe was drunk, somehow staggered from the 9th floor of the hotel to the basement where she located the freezer in a construction zone. Somehow she managed to open the two heavy freezer doors and lock herself inside the freezer.
Since the basement of the hotel was under construction, no food was stored in the freezer. Yet someone set the thermostat on the lowest possible setting and left Kenneka to freeze to death.
According to social media users, Monifah Shelton, who worked in the kitchen, was familiar with the layout of the hotel and would have known where the freezer was located in the basement. She allegedly had a key to the freezer.
Coincidentally, none of the cameras in the basement or the elevators leading to the basement were functioning that morning.
Roberts’ Facebook Live video could be the key to solving the case.
