A Florida police officer was arrested after he broke the jaw of a 17-year-old boy he thought was having sex with his 13-year-old daughter.
Officer Lowrie Simon, 37, reportedly attacked the teenager at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at Pembroke Park Church of Christ, according to a Broward County Sheriff’s arrest report obtained by NBC6 Miami.
Simon approached the boy and asked him if he was having sex with his daughter. When the teen said he was not, Simon allegedly punched him in the face and chest.
The teen was treated for a fractured jaw and injuries to his lower teeth at DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, according to the report.
Simon was charged with felony battery and has been placed on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation, according to AJC.com.
