Nickelodeon has parted ways with writer and executive producer Dan Schneider, creator of ‘Kenan & Kel,’ ‘Drake & Josh,’ ‘All That’ and ‘Zoey 101’ on the popular children’s network.
Nickelodeon announced Schneider’s departure on Monday after a tense meeting.
“Following many conversations together about next directions and future opportunities, Nickelodeon and our long-time creative partner Dan Schneider/Schneider’s Bakery have agreed to not extend the current deal,” Nickelodeon and Schneider said in a joint statement provided to Deadline.
The statement went on to say both sides agreed to Schneider’s departure.
According to Complex.com, the fate of Schneider’s show ‘The Adventures of Kid Danger’ is unclear.
There is rampant speculation that Schneider was given the pink slip due to his rumored predilection for the young stars in his shows.
“Among the things that have raised eyebrows are his tweeted photos of the toes of his young female stars,” reports Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva.
Andreeva also reports that Schneider was let go due to his “well documented temper issues” and “multiple complaints of abusive behavior against Schneider filed by members of his staff.”
