Lmaoooo.... But I do believe though that our parent's are our first teachers. Can't force bad ass, poorly raised children to learn a thing no matter how much teachers are salaried.

  • the guest

    these Queens ain't teaching shit.

  • Kim’s Original Face

This Muthaf*cka got a point *in his vc*

  • the guest

Quality parents are indeed the first and always remain the primary teachers in the lives and education of their children. Even as their children become adults.

Paying teachers 30k per year and mumble rappers $7 million is a testament to an imbalance in society. It's an economic imbalance that drives kids to aspire to become mumble rappers, IG models, and celebrities rather than teachers.

  • dontgetblocked

Every older generation criticizes the younger people. It just means you're old and out of touch. He needs to sit senior citizen azz down.

  • You Could Never

    Do you agree with him?
No. Bc obviously Yachty teachers were ok. He actually was able to get into college. IJS. Would love if he went back too.

  • missarewa

I agree. I also agree nothing is likely to change. Whenever I tell someone what I do and they're like wooow you must be really smart, I'm thinking no I'm not smarter than you. Only difference is I grew up in society that valued education first before entertainment/sports/azz/tiddays/bundles/jordans etc

  • Coy little wink
  • Coy little wink

    Bundles. I am WEAK

  • KcoolMuziq

Samuel L.Jackson(Whom I once declined to work with) was not a pleasant experience meeting. But his wife LaTanya Richardson(Whom I attended a SAG conversation piece with) is hilarious and a very charismatic, talented, & vivacious person.

  • missarewa

lol I just threw that in there for kicks but I nearly fainted when I found out you could finance bundles

  • MsPam

    You’re a damn lie!

  • Mark mcharm

No one ever criticized the Golden era of Hip Hop that "old" argument does not fly either when you have people making songs about percocet.

I would agree but they don't have the same EMPLOYERS! So he need to come up with another solution thats thought thru.

  • Mark mcharm

The rappers are Trash but the School Teachers are boinking the students at an alarming rate i don't even know if that would matter nowadays.

  • Coy little wink

  • MsPam

Hey do you have any details on MJB divorce settlement?! Was that you carrying the back of her dress at the Oscar’s?! Are you the one that stole that actresses Oscar?! Just kidding! ????

  • klwbaby

I do agree with him that teachers are underpaid but u also have to look at their life at home. Are the parents actively involved with their children, do they ask about their homework, if the kid is struggling in school do they make sure they have help to do better.

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

    Totally agree

  • Dahl

    Yes. NEXT CASE!! ?????

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

Naw Sam....the teachers need to be upgraded first. Sam must work too much to read about teachers molesting students. No, no bro....the teachers need a whole new level of qualifications. Paying them more now as they are...hell no!

  • Phyllis

So I actually listen with my sons to these Trash Rappers. That’s something my parents would have never done. It’s real important to keep the communication open with your kids. Me and my husband let our sons know that this world will judge them differently being young black men. All these things these “rappers” are talking about are fictional. Don’t try to be Anything like them. And when some of their favs go to jail (NBA Youngboy) , I like to let them know that’s not the life their privileged tails want. But I stay in the loop Indeed. I remember having to sneak to listen to Slick Rick, DJ Quik, And Uncle Luke. I was just happy to hear some grimy mess. LOL!!

  • You Could Never

Yes. They did. Saw a hip hop documentary where the old original rappers said they absolutely hated the new era when Run DMC and the like came in and clowned them mercilessly. Herc and nem. And touched on when folks hated the young West coast then newbies. Called their form of hip hop exercise music (Egyptian Lover etc). So yes. They did

  • Smith Jane

Interesting. Tell me, are you or anyone else going to raise your hand to higher taxes? Forget about paying teachers more, let’s look at where that funding is coming from, and the communities that these teachers are teaching in. This argument is so laughable that I don’t even know where to begin.

But what I will say is, the argument that teacher should be on the same scale as entertainer is a false equivalency. Education in this country isn’t consumer driven, it is a mandate that is funded by the communities that they serve. No one in a black community (which are mostly impoverished) are going to ask for higher taxes to pay teachers more, when they have bigger issues occurring. Like lack of infrastructure, lack of employment, as well as the criminal elements.

  • You Could Never
  • You Could Never

Don't agree with you much but this.

  • You Could Never

This. I never had to sneak tho bc mom didn't believe in censoring us. But my dad (divorced when I was 7) sure did lol. You won't be listening to Bishes Wit Attitudes at his house lol. But yes. Talk to em.

  • ?Sugar&Spice?

omg bout time somebody talked about them. i can't wait for them to get hooked on crack and go away.

  • I agree!

    I agree with him!

  • Communication is key

When my mom was younger, and rap was funner, we would be in the car listening to songs like Pull Over by Trina and Juvenile Back That Thang Up. Those two were my mama’s songs and it used to tickle me. Even tho those songs were ratchet, it’s not the same as music where they’re literally talking about getting high, eating ass, women bragging about how good their pussy is, and sex sex and more sex. It’s like rap isn’t fun anymore. My mama would catch some lyrics and laugh out loud. I don’t think I could listen to the rap with my kids, but I would listen to it by myself, to see what they were listening to.

  • stevetheque

"Yes, They Deserve To Die And I Hope They Burn In Hell!" But first we need to get the snakes off the motherfu@king plane!

  • Phyllis

It was awkward to do. But I actually wanted us to hear it together. It definitely made me cringe, but it also kept communication open. I will admit, we use to shelter them from the garbage, but we had to let them grow up. So we are just taking a different approach now.
And I definitely miss the fun rap as well. Those were the days indeed.

  • hottlanta

Is the one with the Crayola teeth the official ad for how bad the opioid crisis is in this country.

  • CookieMobster

That's a great mother and daddy!! Even if you do or don't like it, you have to listen to what your kids are hearing and explain that mess to them. I commend you!!!!!!!
At least 2 or 3 times a night we have "YouTube" night at our house. My husband, my son and I all take turns playing our favorite songs on YouTube. We think it is important for him to hear what REAL music sounds like and we think it's important to hear what he likes. All 3 of us have new favorite songs from listening to what each other likes. And it's a REALLY fun time!!! All parents, you should try it?!!!

  • hottlanta

Imma tell. Have your kids to call me at ____________________.

  • imright

Sam is over 60 years old his take on music doesnt count ??????

  • Rosemary

No I Do Not daughter listen to rap music she in college doing good...Money moves$$$.. bring out all kind of Haters???

  • Sally Wright McLinn

Oh yes, I agree. I still can't understand anything Kendrick Lamar says and he's the top rapper today. I have to "decode" JayZ and slow his rap down, but I still don't know what he's talking about. I think they just makeup imaginary words and talk a lot of shY!T But what's so bad is that our kids are mimicking them. And the kids don't know what they're saying. They're guessing what they're saying.
And think on this: All these would-be upcoming rappers want to be the next Will Smith or LL Cool J, but you gotta know how to read and memorize scripts! These rappers can't even read! that's why you don't see them in movies. Or if you do, they're a 2 second cameo. I can imagine that many a rapper passes through casting agents offices and they fail, because they're so dumb!

  • Sally Wright McLinn

To me it does. Whoever is into rap and hip hop today will be done with it in 10 years. That genre music doesn't have sustainability.

  • tintin

SLJ SLJ SLJ just leave rappers names out your mouth. all you do is complain about them and they still finna take your movie roles and make more money. shut up

  • Phyllis

Wow!! That’s actually a great idea. We will definitely start doing that. Thanks!!!

  • Sally Wright McLinn

You know there's going to be a fire storm about his comments; but Sam don't care :)

  • 88

Agree 100% all black music with the exception of some Adult R&B is GARBAGE!!!!!!!!

  • 88

    Dumbass comment

  • Phyllis

Gutta Music I can relate to.. Yesssss!!! ?

  • Communication is key

No you can’t shelter your kids. They’re going to be listening to it behind your back anyway, and they definitely have to be prepared for the world, and it’s rough out here. It’s not good to be sheltered. At least the music isn’t being given more power to them by being taboo. It’s just music, meant to entertain, not to be taken literally or seriously. And now they know y’all know what’s going on out there, and what they’re saying when they’re trying to be slick. Lol. Who mentioned something about eating groceries??. Lol.

  • the guest

Kendrick Lamar is a poet not a mumble rapper.

  • Holler If Ya Hear Me

    KL speaks very clearly

  • the guest

Communities that do not mind paying higher taxes for education have better quality public schools. As my husband and I agreed private school the best choice for our two children, we are not suffering the educational and tax issue at hand.

Although my family is not directly affected by the matter, I am still a citizen concerned that teachers in public schools are severely underpaid.

Certainly teachers would not be paid $7 million dollars, but a comfortable living and saving wage is deserved.

  • Holler If Ya Hear Me

We need more black teachers especially males- substitutes don’t count!

  • You Could Never

    Agree. All of it

  • You Could Never

Funny how some of his roles are QT movies. Who loves hip hop so much, one of his closest collaborators these days is RZA. Soundtracks. Writing. Production. You name it.

    Fukking RZA!!! Bobby Digital.

I remma when Wu was talked about AS WELL

  • PhillyFacts

Somebody has to tell the truth; I refuse to conform this music is remedial asf

  • Blak

Who cares - they will all be dead within 5 years and their music will never be played again. These guys are all addicted to drugs and mumble like that because of brain damage.

  • Ryan

No one wants to be the next Will Smith. If you want to try to troll on a black site do your research. Something tells me you've got plenty of time.

  • J2PC

This is true. While they are wasting time being mumbling muppets putting out garbage, the White folks in other countries (with the exception of Bruno) are stepping up & positioning themselves to produce the R&B music that folks want to here.

-fools get distracted with that foolishness & don't even know that they are being gamed to make way for others to still their Black music game. smh

  • J2PC

I know teens & 20 something who feel like just like the 60yr Sam. -that's why others are stealing the music form created by Blacks because Black folks abandoned it.

Losers & druggies tend to waste time listening to that street fad or short-lived junk.

-isn't the goal is to make the world think that Blacks will is nothing more than the worse negative stereotypical images fit for nothing but to run up all types of statistics plaguing a segment of the Black community??

  • Lady M

    Yaaaaaaasssss Samuel Jackson.... YASSSSS!!!!!!

    *Does praise dance.

  • Lady M

Hip Hop (particularly old school hip hop) is fine. Mumble music is trash. And what Quintin Tarantino likes is irrelevant to Samuel Jackson´s likes are any way. One can work with someone and still not agree with them on everything they like.

  • Traci404

    He is right!
When rap first came out, it was a pure creativs art form
    this has degenerated into HOTMESS

Then Autotune allowed these non talented fools to SING
Nas is right RAP is dead.

I laughed at the Migos on SNL
asked myself: they dont play instruments
    They arent lyrycist
They repeat the same words throughout the whole song
    Over and over.

    Who is buying this crap?

  • Lady M

Neither Jay Z or Kendrick Lamar constitute Mumble Rappers though. Both men articulate themselves fine. He´s talking about the Futures, the Migos, the Yachtys, etc

  • Jethro
  • davine puddin

We dont need outside people to bash us we do it to our selves. Although i don t like mumble, screwed, gansta, nor trap music it is just a type of music. I love dave mathews huge fan some people hate his voice. I feel former crack head shouldnt judge young kids music. Every generation had music their parents hated.

  • Yoni7

This use to be my avi on here. LOL

Good morning and shut the fuck up!! Former crackhead!! You tearing us down!! That man got off crack made a career took care of his family, advacates for our people and has achieved greatness in life? but if he was on an opioid ninjas would want to cuddle and rehabilitate. I cant? happy Friday mitch!

  • KatTheSocratic

As an underpaid, overworked teacher, hell yeah I agree! These non English language speaking "rappers" need to sit their asses down somewhere: like a classroom. I would say I blame the public school system, but that would be biting the hand that attempts to feed, I'll just blame the parents who didn't tell their children, that if you are going to make a living trying to convey/share a message, your audience should be able to at least understand what you are saying.

  • KatTheSocratic

What's the age limit on being able to recognize garbage? If the "music" sounds like a made up language, shouldn't any person, who actually speaks English, be able to speak on it?!?

  • davine puddin

I suppose you are correct about his career. I guess he did make a career with his stella roles up lifting our people. A robber...a hit man...lets not forget django. Fyi just because a person get off drugs that doesnt mean that person still dont have the frame of mind that got them addicted. Did he ask people stop paying actors and actresses all the money they recieve and pay it to teachers? His movie made billions around the world. Do he donate to teachers? Did he set up fund raising for specific teachers? By the way when i lived in atlanta i was in the fund raising commitee for e rivers and friends of ponce library. And my son inlaw is a teacher. So dont tell me to hush the heck up

Stfu!! So my mother who's been off crack for 24 years raised 3 kids, single, has a master's from Simmons college, doctorate form Harvard, community activist, still has the taste??? Your so ignorant but it's people like you who make me have faith in my people even during our darkest time. And your son in law can kick rocks!!

  • Shawty

We can call them mumble rappers but there are folks that likes and buys the music. I guess as long there's a market for it, the music will sell.

I agree teachers are well underpaid. 7 teachers in my family and 5 have part time jobs. 3 have trouble finding work every other summer. But how Samuel blaming these mumble rappers who I agree is terrible! They have different employers than teachers. So do the NBA players. Samuel is a millionaire, so if he feel teachers are underpaid do something and stop blaming other professions. I praise you educators! Every teacher that taught me deserve to be a millionaire lol I was a handful.

  • Kemi

There’s a point to what he says to a degree. I feel that actors/actresses are overpaid too and some movies that are being produced are not appropriate for young minds. Parents should just take ownership in censoring what their children watch and listen to. Education should become paramount as they grow/mature.

Also, I think teachers should be compensated more for their work; some of them are overworked and stressed by some of this bad azz kids esp special Ed teachers.

  • mona q

Samuel Jackson is right and most people don't even know this about him but he was expelled from Morehouse College for locking board members in a building for two days to protest the school’s curriculum and to get more black people on the governing board. Guess who was in there with the people who were held hostage? Martin Luther King Jr.’s father, Martin Luther King Sr.! He was also an usher at Dr. King, Jr.'s funeral. After getting expelled, he hooked up with a black power movement but that was halted when his mom sent him packing to LA and told him not to return to ATL....He went to work in social services for 2 years in LA then went back to Morehouse to study drama....he was far more than his former drug addicted status! He has a right to speak on this new rap culture and the bumbo jumbo they are's disgusting...Just because it's selling doesn't mean it's right! Our kids deserve more!

  • Ni Ni

A bunch of screwed up kids and adults who act like kids.

  • mona q

He is more than a former crackhead. • stav

The music may be trash , but the bottom line is that it's not being made for people who are Samuel Jackson's age.

people waited to long to get on to mumble in their raps!

would agree but they don't have the same EMPLOYERS! So he need to come up with another solution thats thought thru.

  • Millicent Maso6

    Nice, did not know that.

  • SingleGalCrazyWorld

    Where's the lie???

  • mona q

He's been sober since the 80's it's absurd to imply that his frame of mind is the same or that he somehow doesn't have a voice because he is a former drug addict...You have no idea what he does....just because it isn't publicized doesn't mean it's not happening. Him and his wife do have a foundation that does in fact donate to schools and disadvantage youth.

  • Kemi

Thanks for the info, never knew that. He’s a pillar in the black community. Much respect!

  • mona q

Unfortunately my 17 year old and his friends...don't get me wrong, my husband and I make sure he listens to real rap and he is into it but I have to say, all of his friends listen to this crap...I don't get it.

  • davine puddin

Bottom line what wise acting choices has jackson made since his crack head days? Your mothers accomplishments has no justification for jacksons comments. Your mother isnt out here making money for being a coon she sound like she has atoned for the past. But before you try to have a convincing argument and stand your ground you might want to brush up on your Pathos, ethos, and logos.

  • davine puddin

What about those basketball players who most went to college can not complete a sentence with out saying you know. You know. I swear if i drank i would make a drinking game when watching sports every time a athlete say You Know take a drink.

  • davine puddin

Reality is garbage trash workers. Postal employees make more money than teachers. Its an arguemment to be lobbied against our elected officials not some silly kid rapper patrons...

  • davine puddin

Yall take care i have to go to my 6 month dental appoinment. Beantown bulli always be proud of your mom you never know who her recovery might inspire and realize it is not to late.

  • Dowoop

You can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink. Im not saying that teachers dont deserve to get paid more but what impact will them getting paid more have on the students. They will still be teaching the same things in the same way and some kids just arent interested in school. The education system in general needs an overhaul not just a pay hike for teachers.

  • Dowoop

What does him being a crack head have to do with anything? Just because he did drugs in the past doesnt mean he isnt entitled to his opinion or that he doesnt know what he is talking about.

  • Skin Deep Beauty

His point is missed by many I see who love to dissect and keyboard peck. I agree with Sam. At any rate these shiddy rappers seem to be the TEACHERS....LOOK ATB THESE DAYUM CHILDREN.... THEY DAYUM SURE NOT HITTING THE BOOKS,!

  • Tink Tink

However, when the pay is that low, who really wants to take time to teach. If you are that qualified as you want everyone else to be, wouldn't you just teach at a private school to get more money? I think pay has A LOT to do with why they get shitty ass teachers on board.

  • Enoughsaid2020

I totally agree! These new so called bubble gum rappers, have all rode the special bus, and not getting off anytime soon!

  • ebonics

Theres a difference between real hip hop and dumbed down mumble rap tho.. RZA makes quality music and his beats are great! Im sure Sam loves the Wu! RZA sampled some of the best oldies to make his beats. Music today is garbage all the way around. To me it seems like Samuel is a REAL hip hop fan, and is disgraced at what hip hop has become. These "rappers" today don't deserve the money they're making.

  • Gordon Carns

    Yes he did.

  • Laura Bodman

I have to agree. The problem isn't so much with the teachers pay. In fact, some of the best teachers are in private schools were they get paid less. The problem is what they're teaching. We need to go back to basics.

Great statement ... Mumble rap and Future sounding rappers or Lil wayne and Drake fans turned rappers all sound the same. They copy each others look with the played out tattoos and each others sound.
You can tell the poor quality of music that black arts is on life support. Rap music and whats left of soul music. Taking art problems out of inner citys and replacing them with classes of teaching students to learn English as a first language.

  • Malcom Flex

(***I"m talking about BLACK PEOPLE not other races, OK!***)
He's right because those mumble rappers are the big-brother figure for fatherless black boys it's creating an underclass of cocky deluded black boys who think their shit don't stink and don't focus on education. They think cause they dress the part they should get special treatment. I also blame Koonye West for this generation of sullen black boys pouting and giving the silent treatment.
