President Trump’s ex-attorney Michael Cohen reportedly recorded audio of a conversation with Trump discussing a payout to Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal.
The audio tape, which is about 2 minutes long, was found during a federal raid of Cohen’s home, office and hotel room earlier this year in New York.
The raid was conducted by federal agents executing a warrant issued by the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York. The investigation stems from a $130,000 payoff made by Cohen to porn star Stormy Daniels, who claims she had an intimate romp with Trump in 2006.
The tape was recorded by Cohen during a discussion with then-candidate Trump about paying off McDougal, who claimed she had an affair with Trump in 2006 while he was married to current wife Melania Trump. The affair lasted about a year.
In the audio, Trump reportedly tells Cohen not to pay McDougal. He then advises Cohen to document the payoff.
McDougal filed a lawsuit in March against AMI, which owns the National Enquirer, claiming her own lawyer sold her out to keep the story from going public.
AMI has denied the allegations.
