The music producer “formerly known as Kanye West” officially changed his name to “YE” ahead of his performance tonight on Saturday Night Live.
YE’s set will include fellow rappers Kid Cudi, Lil Pump and more. After his performance on SNL, YE will drop his much-anticipated ninth studio album, Yandhi.
The rapper announced his name change in a tweet on Saturday morning.
YE is often referred to as “Ye” by family and friends. Ye was also the title of his eighth studio album, which debuted on June 1.
In related news, YE gave a homeless rapper a chance to rap on his beats in his studio.
In a video uploaded by YE early Saturday, Nino Blu explained that YE invited him into his studio after he freestyled for YE on the street.
“The universe works in very mysterious ways, and I feel extremely blessed for Kanye West to help me out with this.”
Nino said he recently celebrated his birthday the other day. It pays to be in the right place at the right time.
