Entercom announced two new co-hosts to replace Wanda Smith and Miss Sophia on the V-103 (WVEE) morning show. Wanda and Sophia, born Joe Taylor, were let go from the Frank Ski In the Morning Show on Thursday. Their one-year contracts reportedly expired and were not renewed.
Beyonce look-a-like Jade Novah and sports blogger JR will co-host V-103’s morning show alongside current host Frank Ski. Novah is a singer, songwriter, actress, and internet sensation with over 330,000 followers on Instagram. Her song covers, skits, and original music have garnered over 55 million views.
Novah has performed background vocals for several artists including Rihanna, Eminem, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga.
“I look forward to joining the team at V-103 and kicking off 2019 by hitting the ground running,” said Novah. “Atlanta is where I started my career as a solo artist and content creator and I’m excited to come back to the city to represent the voice of a free thinking generation.”
JR joins V-103 after most recently serving as on-air personality for sister station WFAN (WFAN-FM/AM) in New York. He built a respectable following on his JRSportBrief YouTube channel.
According to a press release, the move to cut Wanda and Sophia is part of the station’s strategic shift to revamp the morning show with younger on air personalities in order to attract the younger demographic in Atlanta. The morning show features music, lifestyle, comedy, entertainment, politics, sports and community information.
Frank Ski, Jade Novah and JR will be on air weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET, beginning January 22. In addition to their roles as co-hosts, Jade Novah and JR will create content for V-103’s digital platforms.
