R&B Diva Monica Brown yearns for true love, loyalty and commitment in a new breakup song she released on iTunes on Friday. “Commitment” is a soaring ballad off Monica’s upcoming 9th studio album of the same title. The song was written by Monica and produced by Nova Wav.
Monica’s strained relationship with her estranged husband, NBA free agent Shannon Brown, provided her with enough emotional material to fill an entire album.
“Commitment” is about a woman looking for love in the aftermath of a breakup – a familiar theme that many of her lovelorn fans can relate to. The lyrics contain something for everyone who has loved and lost.
Love-starved women understand when the mother-of-3 sings, “It don’t take much, a little affection / And some of your time / That’s all that I’m asking for.”
And heartbroken women will cry when Monica sings the chorus: “I just need someone to love me when it’s hard to / I can trust with all my issues / Someone who is patient and consistent/ I need good sex and commitment.”
Mo composed a lyrical resumé to help her find the ideal man who only exists in her dreams. But music is healing and powerful, and “Commitment” proves that a good breakup song is the cure for a broken heart.
