Peter Thomas is still being detained in a Miami jail after he was taken into custody at the Miami International Airport last week on an outstanding arrest warrant for writing bad checks in Louisiana.
The part-time Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member issued a statement via his publicist denying the charges on Monday.
"I understand the seriousness of the allegations that have been filed against me, however the allegations are false," he said. "I do have faith in the judicial process and have no doubt that I will be acquitted from any wrong doing [sic]. While I can offer no further information about this incident, I will say that my attorney is handling this matter expeditiously."
The 58-year-old businessman was in Miami to attend the opening of a nightclub last week.
Fellow RHOA co-star NeNe Leakes commented on Thomas's arrest on an episode of Watch What Happens: Live with Andy Cohen.
"I've been out of the country, honey, so I don't get the news," the 51-year-old mother-of-2 told Cohen.
"You were in Canada, sweetie, they get the news," Cohen responded sarcastically.
"Now that you are telling me, my reaction is, wow. Amazing," NeNe said.
Cohen reminded NeNe that she last saw Thomas in Miami when she attended a New Year's Eve event.
"I did. I love Peter," she said.
Thomas is being held without bond pending extradition to Louisiana.
