You may not care that rapper A$AP Rocky is languishing in a Swedish prison without bread and water, but Rihanna cares.
The 31-year-old retired singer joined other celebrities who pleaded with their fans to sign a petition to release the rapper from a “remand prison” in Stockholm, Sweden where detainees are held until their court dates.
Rihanna posted an image on her Instagram stories with text that reads “#freeRocky” and “Change.org.”
So far, the Change.org petition has garnered over 500,000 signatures.
A$AP Rocky was arrested on June 30, along with 2 other members of his entourage, after they allegedly assaulted 2 Afghan migrants who harassed and pursued them for blocks.
Rocky, 30, was moved to solitary confinement after he became despondent when the Supreme Court denied his appeal for bail.
The Change.org petition was created by his attorney who claims the rapper is living in squalid conditions inside the prison. The attorney said the food is inedible, the water is unsafe to drink, and a prisoner next-door to his cell hurls feces against the wall.
Rocky is being held for 2 weeks until Swedish prosecutors determine what to charge him with. Prosecutors are reportedly filing a request to detain Rocky for another 2 weeks.
