Jermaine Dupri is making blog headlines again after he appeared to throw shade at one-hit wonder Lil Nas X. Dupri came under fire when he called today's female rappers glorified "strippers". Now he is going in on Nas X, whose song "Old Town Road" is arguably the most popular record of all time.

After Nas X surpassed Mariah Carey for most consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard, Dupri added his voice to the chorus of critics who believe the hip-hop country singer is not worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Mariah Carey.

J.D. took to Instagram and appeared to diss the openly ghey country singer.

"No!! You can't sit with us, go sit over there and based on the stats and this chart @mariahcarey is the greatest song writer in history," he wrote.

JD's followers immediately assumed he was referring to Nas X - and they were right. But JD quickly denied it.

"Why y'all think I'm talking to him? Stop making sh*t up, he's on the list and he from Atlanta, I'm taking to all the ni--as that discredit me, this list is the biggest songs in history and I'm on it !!"

JD knows a thing or 2 about hit records. He produced hit songs for artists such as Mariah and Usher Raymond that - unlike "Old Town Road" - will stand the test of time.

Funny how gays can be some of the most harsh, volatile, self loathing folks in the world. Yet as soon as someone says something against them they become so sensitive, and fragile. GTFOH So what if he was talking about him, folks talk about straight black women like myself everyday, and no one gives a D---.....

  • abby500

I agree with ol’ mugly JD! I immediately thought of Usher’s “Yeah” waaaay better and a bigger cut than OTR (Old Town Road). That song is boo-boo.

  • Bree

I strongly believe Mariah has her own lane. Although she isn't making hits like she did back in the day. There aren't many that can touch her with a 10ft pole.

JD has a right to speak truth whatever he feels that may be.

Lil Nas X deserves the accolades for his work. I don't see anything wrong with MC congratulating him or anyone for that matter. He surpassed a record, that should count for something. It does not take away from MC's legacy.

  • Starburst

In life there's always gonna be someone richer, attractive, taller, richer, etc. Never get comfortable in your spot because I guarantee someone is waiting in line to take your spot.

  • LoneWolf1986

JD is desperate to be relevant again. What has he done of note in the past 10 years? 5 years?

  • Ghetto Real Name

Fukk this dude and the high chair he rode in on.

Saw this last night and it pissed me off. IDC how many hits he produced or helped write for Mimi and Ursher. It still didnt stop him from going So So BROKE. It was So So UNECCESSARY for him to throw shade like that at that young man.

Mimi was gracious and classy about Lil Nas X breaking her record (and JD aint have SHIT to DO with One Sweet Day) and he should have been AS WELL

  • Ghetto Real Name

For me it aint have not one thing to do with the young man being gay. It has to do with he is a 19 yo KID. But hey.

  • Gloria

Jermaine is a goofy and a hater. I will be blasting “Old Town Road” 15 years from now while I force my kids to clean up the whole house ???

  • Ghetto Real Name

Trying to get rich off the back of CHILDREN.

  • Christopher Gibson

Exactly- and the young man wasn't the one who responded so how is he being sensitive? Let the kid live.

  • Ghetto Real Name

If he was still in the closet or straight I would have the exact same comment.

  • Blak

Jermaine has such an intensively long resume that he literally doesn't even have to say anything about anything because his resume speaks for itself

  • TheWildChild

? Urhmmmm, JD should still be sitting in silence, several ???s back since this phuckery......

  • Nathan Hastings

JD has turned into a hater.

  • LeeSeeCee
  • Anji

J you should encourage the youngsters not hate....Stop confusing popular with great.

  • Ghetto Real Name

    A damn clown

  • ShelbyMoore

Charting on Billboard isn't worth shat anymore. These people are barely selling records, yet they're charting. They need to figure out how to deal with Streaming cause....

For instance, Toto's Africa is playing on loop in the desert nonstop, so.....

  • Coy little wink

    Lololoo @ high chair

He's having a middle age crisis bless his heart

  • Indies beauty

Hang it up J.D.... Flat screen.

  • PhillyFacts

I totally agree with you! I was referring to what I've read online today, because for some reason the "gay" conversation always comes up.

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

  • Wreckognize Game
  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

    I agree as well.

  • Soon2BWife

It always has a tinge of bitter when someone that is not where they used to be or on the level of the person they are criticizing at the moment. Aries Spears (Kevin Hart), Tyrese (The Rock), Monique (Everybody). Though they may be speaking the truth you have to consider the source.

  • Ghetto Real Name

I agree too! That year Snoop got up on BET Hip Hop Awards and said basically the same thing I was CHEERING. But its easier to hate and be messy I suppose.

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

Lil Nas is coming up just like anyone else .... he ain't hurting no damn body .... trying to do his thang and das it ... why can't folks leave people alone .... some shyt I will never get about pitching one against the next ... JD dude I like ya .... but why bash another artist that is completely innocent to his come up .... He ain't out here trying to take yo title bruh ... pitching people against another ... is fawkery and is the problem in the industry Mariah is that chick of greatness in her own right ... chile no one can take that from her ... so just stop .....

  • jeniefrumdabloc™
  • Junkanoo

People always have something to say even when you're not in the public eye when you are in the public eye it's silly to get to caught up in public opinions cause their relentless and intensified due to social media and gossip blogs. If you can't control peoples opinions focus on what you do have control over . Jermaine is yesterdays news this Nas person is up and coming but you need tough skin to handle unsolicited opinions .

  • Jas

He is right... It's sure not a song I will listen to repeatedly

  • tia

Come on Jermaine, don't mess up your legacy with the pettiness. Why are you bothering these young folks. Even if it's for a "hot 15 minutes", let these youngster's enjoy the moment. First it was the girl's; now this young man. Stop it!

  • tintin

JD is definitely one of the best song writers to ever grace this earth . I think he's just salty cause now that he's a has-been and he just can't get back what he had many years ago and on top of that he's broke.

A one hit wonder lil nas x has another song on the charts at 13 "Panini".
He will be alright. That one hit brought millions into his life.

  • Nophace

And here we have an Old head (not to be confused with an OG) doing ish simply to try and stay relevant by seeking attention.

"Money ain't the root of all evil now, attention is..." -Fabolous

  • KarmaBackAround

The thing is..nobody is comparing shit to mariah... he jus surpassed her on the billboard for longest running hit..i jus wish people stop blowing things out of proportion and actually listen to what they crediting him for like wtf!

  • MsVAllDay

I don't believe he was talking about Little Nas X. JD is from the "A" and they definitely support each other.

  • Brenda Purcell

JD and his little puppy just hating on people that are gaining recognition! Y’all need to go sit over there somewhere and stop hating cause y’all had y’all time!?

  • CookieMobster
  • Yup, I said it

I'm tired of seeing Lil Nas X face everywhere. He has an old man face and looks like he should be a singer in the Whispers or Temptations Vegas show

  • Chaseboogie The Prince

  • Wreckognize Game

He’s a Virgo?. I will never date one again.

  • SingleGalCrazyWorld

I agree...He's the oldest young man I've ever seen...

  • SingleGalCrazyWorld

It is man...I find myself singing it even when Im not paying attention...

  • Phillybruh

Did they cancel that little rapper show he had on lifetime? According to my kids those kids never needed the show, they were already making plenty of money from Youtube.

  • Andrea Williams

Why is there so much hate and anger towards Little Nas X? He hasn't been disrespectful towards Mariah, nor has he dissed her music. The only thing that he has done was to knock her song down from being the longest at number 1. It's a good song IMO and people like it, myself included. Why can't he shine a little bit? Isn't there room for everyone? I have to wonder if he had not come out, would he be treated this way?

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

I agree. Even if he wasn't throwing shade at Lil Nas X ( and I'm not sure I believe him), he's attracting attention for the wrong reason.

  • MsPam

JD is right next year people won’t even remember this clown. XNas is trying to squeeze the last fifteen minutes of time. He used being ghey to keep going.

  • SingleGalCrazyWorld

I have an Open Post question....Do yall think men and women can be friends? I mean strictly friends? I got reacquainted with a old friend a few weeks ago...We've chatted a few times and said we would meet up for lunch this week...I call his phone and I find out Im blocked??? I called a mutual friend of ours and he said that I was blocked because "my friend" was developing feelings opposite sexes cant be friends anymore???

  • Ghetto Real Name

Lord my babe is one. And he is crazy as all hell do you hear me? 9/18. Just damn it NUTS. Now he is NOT a hater. But overall just a damn fool and I am convinced he has OCD.

  • MrsSpice1

Yes they can. It all relys on the maturity of the person and the respect of boundaries. He could have told you as a man that he has feelings and can no longer associate with you knowing your feelins arent equal to he did you a favor by blocking you he showed u his level of petty before it could escalate into some bs drama?....or stalking ?.

  • Guest©

I have male friends. It's possible.

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

JD is lowkey a legend , but he’s also a leprechaun ? with a diva complex.

  • Trace da Ace

Yes, they can.....but if one starts to have feelings other than a platonic friendship...then it wont happen. I have male friends...hell most of them I've known all my life....and I look at them as brothers....and treat them as such....there is no sexual chemistry AT ALL...we talk about relationships, kids, life, jobs.....basically keeping that same " brother/sister" feel friendship. Its ok...maybe he will get over his feelings and want to pursue a friendship with you....

  • Trace da Ace you need some attention??? Cause you been flapping your gums alot lately.....have several seats....stop acting like you are the voice of the people....and give this little dude props...hell....he don't deserve this hate and shade....damn.....most black folks always want to low key shade each other.....smdh

  • Reina1718

Man i would too! Yall give this one hit wonders too much credit! B4 social media artist worked HARD to get noticed, now u have a following & thats all that matters! Shut down social media for a year & lets c what happens.

  • Reina1718

    Thank u

  • imright

what is going on wit JD lately ???? is he dying or something(jkjk) ?!?! ???? no filter lately

  • Not Today

  • Desi

    Your time is up.

  • dru and neil

Once again Jermaine was right but folks don’t like it. There is zero comparison between lil Nas X and Mariah fucking Carey. You got to be crazy to think so.

  • dru and neil

Sometimes I wonder if something is off with me when I don’t fall in and help blow up these shitty little songs that make it big. Old Town Road is the most successful song ever made? What in God’s name...

  • dru and neil

I don’t think it has anything to do with him being gay. People went nuts for FloRida crap songs years ago too.

  • Vonn

Jermaine sure is a whiny lil b!tch.

  • Li-Wright

"one hit wonder" is right. White C&W people don't want Lil Nas near them. How much you wanna bet his next release doesn't get played on radio. C&W don't like gay and they don't like black. They only allowed one black, Charlie Pride, into C&C and then Darius Rucker, but it was a long time in between.

  • dru and neil

Folks are protective about their country and western, I still remember Jessica Simpson getting shut down too after she thought she could be a country star all of a sudden. They sure as hell don’t care for black folks. Besides I still can’t see how a rap song ended up on country charts regardless.

  • dru and neil

Exactly, black women are under attack daily, nobody gives a rats ass.

  • Wreckognize Game

? I like Lady Virgos but I can’t do it with the dudes

  • Logan Roberts

I wish they leave this lil boy alone, he seems to mind his business, unlike others. And what's going on with these under 5 ft tall guys being so crabby?

  • MsPam

Honey it’s not you, unfortunately people like foolishness these days. Like I said before he’ll forget that he was famous this time next year.

  • JNation

JD seems to be getting more and more bitter with age

  • JNation

Chile that’s not the time we live in anymore.

  • The Last Word

And kinda dumb too. He stated:

"No!! You can't sit with us, go sit over there and based on the stats and this chart @mariahcarey is the greatest song writer in history."

Mariah Carey doesnt write any of her music.

  • Vonn

While jd is a jerk, Mariah writes/co-writes most of her music.

  • The Last Word

They give her a eriting credit but she doesnt write it. I did some legal work for one of her writers, and she's just the voice.

  • Vonn

    Oh my.

  • Shira Harding-James

She isn’t why is everyone else?!

  • Shira Harding-James

    In fact she does

  • Rhyme and Reason

Well, she stole a lot then! A great deal of her net worth came from her songwriting/publishing.

I’m familiar with artists, forcing songwriters to give them writing credit, no need to name names!

But, Mariah has been under so much scrutiny, especially since her meltdown, and not being a great live artist, more of a studio artist, I believe she would have been roasted, esp. at Christmas time as her Xmas songs still slay the charts and radio AirPlay!

It’s not like Mariah writes like Stevie Wonder, she writes simple good songs, as R&B Hip Hop turned more into hook singing! No diss to Mariah, love her!

  • dru and neil

I’m not accepting of it because Mariah FOREVER!

  • IyanlaVanzantoftheInterWebs
  • Trentaye

Lil Nas X is a gay black man, so I support him regardless to how sh*tty his song is. #GayMafiaPower

  • Jayde da Blade

They look related. JD need to stop hating

  • teather

SPEAK JD! Sh*t, when you know who you are and what you've done, who better than YOU to speak on it. F*ck waiting on ppl to give you roses and sh*t. BIG UP yourself! I have no problem with Lil Nas X; JD can say what he wants.

  • DC Ren’ee

    Congrats Lil NasX

  • Karen Brady

    All this.

  • Whitley C Jackson

@dru and Neil exactly! And most of the people aren’t rising to the top because of talent ...they are rising to the top because of popularity!

  • Not a Housewife & Neither RU

I love how the headline says one thing and then the article says a completely different thing = clickbait
And dammit I fell for it! I clicked and completely wasted my time with this filler post. Man, I bet bloggers really miss the early 2000's. musts be getting hard to fight for clicks
