Nicki Minaj refuses to get vaccinated to attend this year’s Met Gala after catching Covid-19 while shooting a video for Sunday’s MTV VMAs.

The 38-year-old rapper shared her concerns about the mRNA vaccines in a series of tweets on Monday afternoon.

She also questioned Met organizers demanding all attendees provide proof of full vaccination status.

Nicki said she would get vaccinated after doing her research. She said if she gets the shots, “it won’t be for the Met.”

“They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t [be] for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one.”

Responding to a follower who noticed Nicki hadn’t made an appearance in a year, she wrote:

“I have an infant with no nannies during COVID. who mad? Not risking his health to be seen. One yaself.”

In another tweet, she wrote:

“I was prepping for vmas then i shot a video & guess who got COVID?

“Do u know what it is not to be able to kiss or hold your tiny baby for over a week? A baby who is only used to his mama?”

She went on to question the effectiveness of the vaccines, noting that rapper Drake caught Covid-19 while fully vaccinated:

“‘Get vaccinated?’ Drake had just told me he got covid w|THE VACCINE tho so chile.”

Cases of vaccinated people coming down with the virus – known as ‘breakthrough infections’ – are considered rare, but still occur and can result in severe illness, hospitalization or even death, according to the CDC.

Nicki isn’t discouraging people from getting the vaccines, particularly if they’re forced to get the shots for work. She said she may get the vaccines to go on tour.

“I know babe. A lot of countries won’t let ppl work w/o the vaccine. I’d def recommend they get the vaccine. They have to feed their families. I’m sure I’ll b vaccinated as well cuz I have to go on tour, etc.”
