Cardi B’s new single “Hot Sh*t” dropped with a thud last night. The track features contributions from Kanye West and Lil Durk.

Cardi fans are ecstatic that their fave finally dropped a single in 2022. It is her first solo single since “Up” in February 2021.

But they will have to wait a bit longer for a song to rival her breakout hit “Bodak Yellow” (2017).

On the track, produced by Tay Keith, Cardi, a mother-of-two, brags about catching bodies and sliding on her opps.

She raps in the chorus:

Checks comin’ fast, I’m like swoosh (Swoosh)
    Ooh (Ooh)
Give ’em to me straight, hundred proof (Proof)
I thought I killed you hoes before, it must be déjà vu
It’s either that or I’m catchin’ body number two.

In a recent interview, Cardi struggled to explain why she comes off sounding so hard on this track. She said the song is old (originally recorded in 2019).

“So the song is a boy,” she said. “I think it’s a little bit older than ‘WAP.’ I think I recorded this song around 2019, way before COVID and everything.”

“It’s something that I feel like y’all haven’t heard from me before,” she told HipHopDX.

“I feel like people is expecting a lot of sluttiness and blah blah blah. Y’all keep [saying] I keep making TikTok records and this is definitely not that. It’s a fun great record. It’s masculine [and] it’s great for the clubs. It’s great for the b*tches.”

Even Kanye couldn’t save this waste of a good beat.

One music reviewer referred to Kanye’s verse as “the equivalent of a wilting houseplant spritzed by a generous hand.”

As usual, Lil Durk, a former gang banger, tries too hard to be taken seriously as a rapper.

The fan reaction was mixed.
