Blood work taken after Anne Heche’s fiery car crash last week shows the actress had cocaine in her system, police say.
“Based on the blood work, it revealed the presence of narcotics,” Officer Lizeth Lomeli of the LAPD told Deadline on Wednesday.
Lomeli confirmed that the Emmy-winning actress is facing a possible felony DUI charge after cocaine was found in her system.
“However, additional testing is required because we have to rule out any substances that were administered by medical treatment,” Lomeli said.
Heche, 53, is still in a coma and breathing with the assistance of a ventilator in an ICU. Police obtained a warrant to get a sample of her blood from the hospital.
Heche is in “extremely critical condition” after suffering severe 2nd- and 3rd-degree burn injuries from the August 5 incident.
A photo obtained by TMZ showed a vodka bottle in Heche’s car after she first crashed into a garage, then sped off. The toxicology test ruled out alcohol in her system.
Heche was driving at a high rate of speed when her car ran off the road and collided with a residence in the 1700 block of Walgrove. The fiery crash destroyed the house, but the homeowner, her two dogs and a pet turtle escaped injury.
A GoFundMe launched by Lynne Mishele’s neighbors raised over $132,000.
