Kim Godwin, president of ABC News, pulled GMA co-anchors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach off the air after their adulterous affair went public last week.

Godwin announced the decision in a morning editorial call. She reportedly told staffers that the relationship between Robach and Holmes had become an “internal and external distraction”.

“For now I am going to take Amy and T.J. off the air while we figure this out,” Godwin said during the call. She reiterated the co-anchors are not suspended.

The move is not a suspension at this point, a source told Yahoo! News.

It’s doubtful the ill-fated couple will return to Good Morning America.

Godwin, who initially denied knowing about the couple’s adulterous affair, said her decision was best for ABC News after staffers expressed their “disgust” over the workplace romance last week.

London’s DailyMail.com published dozens of photos of the couple holding hands and enjoying a beer at a NYC bar before heading out of town for a weekend getaway last week.

Holmes, 45, has a history of cheating on his long-suffering wife, attorney Marilee Fiebig, 44. Holmes and Fiebig were married in 2010. They share a 9-year-old daughter named Sabine. He reportedly engaged in a three-year affair with a friend of Robach’s.

After that affair ended, Holmes wrote a touching Facebook post praising Fiebig for standing by him despite his cheating ways. He referred to her determination to hold her family together as “built-in Black woman superpower.”

“10 years ago, Marilee Fiebig married me. And despite my best efforts, she remained married to me the past 10 years,” he wrote on Mar. 1, 2020. “That’s not hyperbole. I’m not being dramatic. I gave her plenty of reasons, excuses, and opportunities to walk her fine ass out the door. But instead, with her built-in black woman superpower, she showed a grace and patience that’s incomprehensible.”

He continued:

“Asking her for another 10 years would be asking too much. Another 10 months? That may even be a stretch. If she gave me another 10 weeks, I should consider myself lucky. If she puts up with me another 10 days, I’d be grateful. But if she would even spare another 10 minutes of her time for me today, I should consider myself blessed.”

Robach’s husband, actor Andrew Shue, reportedly scrubbed her photos from his Instagram account last week. They were pictured smiling together on a red carpet as recently as March 2022.

One insider told DailyMail.com: “Disney needs to step in and take action here. We’re a family friendly network and these two are not displaying [our] values.”

The staffer added: “Bob Iger needs to intervene and terminate them both. He should also be asking Kim Godwin how this was allowed to happen on her watch.”

Staffers predicted ABC’s inaction would backfire, as family-oriented advertisers pulled their ads from the show.

Viewers also flooded ABC’s social media pages with negative comments about the pair. They said ABC’s decision not to fire Robach, 49, and Holmes is a symptom of a society in moral decline.

Many viewers are women who lost their husbands to scheming side women.

Adultery is a violation of the seventh commandment in the Bible: “Thou shalt not commit adultery” Exodus 20:40 (King James Version).
