An assistant coach for Churchland High School JV girls basketball team was fired for impersonating a 13-year-old player in a game.

22-year-old Arlisha Boykins, of Portsmouth, Virginia, suited up for a junior varsity game on January 21.

The parents of a 13-year-old player told WAVY TV 10 that their daughter was out of town participating in a basketball tournament when Boykins impersonated her.

In video footage of the game against Nansemond River High School, Boykins is seen wearing a black No. 1 jersey for Churchland High.

The 22-year-old coach played against 14-and-15-year-old girls. Boykins scored at will, made one block and shot free throws. At one point, she sacrificed her body by diving into the stands after a loose ball.

The girl’s father said he was “shocked” that the coach impersonated his daughter in a game.

In addition to Boykins, the junior varsity head coach and the head coach of the varsity team were fired on Jan. 25.

Sources told WAVY TV 10 that the varsity head coach was “encouraging the behavior” during the game. The father is asking for an apology from the school.

Players on both the junior varsity and varsity teams opted to forfeit the rest of their season.
