CNN’s Don Lemon is reportedly struggling to share the spotlight with his female co-hosts, Kaitlan Collins (L) and Poppy Harlow (R), on CNN This Morning.
According to Radar Online, tension between openly gay Don and his straight-laced female co-stars is causing a stir on the set.
Don’s primetime CNN show was canceled in September, and he was demoted to a lowly morning show to share his limelight with two women.
Lemon reportedly sobbed loudly when he heard his primetime show was being canceled. But he pulled himself together.
“It’s a bittersweet moment for me, but it’s not going to be a sad moment, I’m not going to be sad about it,” he told viewers.
An insider said Don thought he would be the star and his co-hosts, Kaitlan and Poppy, would be his “backup dancers.”
“Don went into this thinking of himself as Beyoncé and his co-hosts as his backup dancers,” said the insider, who added, “That attitude did not fly — especially with Kaitlan. She won’t play second fiddle to Don.”
Meanwhile, the morning show’s ratings are a disaster. CNN is averaging only 417,000 viewers from January 16-22. CNN This Morning also reportedly had its smallest audience since it launched last year among both total viewers and the key demo.
