Drake’s attorney filed a motion asking a Florida judge to set aside an order for him to be deposed in late rapper XXXTentacion’s ongoing murder trial.
X was killed during an armed robbery in the parking lot of Riva Motorsports near Fort Lauderdale on June 18, 2018.
According to TMZ, the Canadian rapper filed a motion, through his attorney Bradford Cohen, asking the judge to set aside his order for Drake to sit for a deposition on February 24.
A defense attorney for suspect Dedrick Williams (right) claims Drake is involved in the rapper’s death. Triggerman Michael Boatwright (left) and Trayvon Newsome (center) are also on trial. A fourth man pleaded guilty last year. They all face life in prison.
Attorney Mauricio Padilla says Drake feuded with X, which led to his murder. After X died, Drake recorded a song dissing X in his lyrics.
Drake is growing uneasy with the rumors after fans tweeted a post of X saying if he dies, Drake killed him.
According to court documents, obtained by TMZ, Padilla sent Drake a ZOOM link for the deposition at the end of January. But the deposition wasn’t under seal, which could have compromised Drake’s personal security.
Drake also claims he was never investigated by police and there’s no evidence that he is involved in the murder or has any relevant knowledge about the case.
Drake believes it’s unreasonable to ask him to sit for a deposition and it’s just an attempt to “add more layers of celebrity and notoriety to a tragic and unfortunate event.”
