The United States is in deep political turmoil. A former sitting president has been indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice led by the current sitting president.

Former President Donald Trump faces 7 counts of “mishandling” more than 100 classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in West Palm Beach, Fla.

He was ordered to appear in federal court in Florida on Tuesday.

Trump, 76, announced the historic indictment in a video posted on his Truth Social app.

Dr. Ben Carson was among those reacting to the news on Thursday: “This is not the America I grew up in,” he tweeted.

The distinguished neurosurgeon served as the 17th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under Trump from 2017 to 2021.

Meanwhile, President Biden cracked jokes during a press conference at the White House on Thursday.

“Where’s the money?” Biden said when a reporter asked about an FBI document that proves he accepted a $5 million “bribe” from Ukraine. The president dismissed the House GOP investigation as “malarkey.”

Tesla founder Elon Musk reacted to Trump’s indictment in a tweet on Thursday.

Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also spoke out about the double standard that exists in the justice system.
