Old skool rapper Monie Love was surprised by a marriage proposal from her now fiancé, Rezell Simmons.

Rezell popped the question at a Rock the Bells concert in Macon, Georgia on Sunday, July 29.

“Eyes engaged y’all [sic],” she captioned a video on her Instagram page on Sunday.

Monie, 53, has been married twice and is the mother of four children.

The British rapper, actress and radio personality, born Simone Johnson, is best known for her hit singles “Monie in the Middle” and “It’s a Shame (My Sister),” which both peaked at No. 1 on the U.S. Rap chart in 1990.

Monie was featured on De La Soul’s 1989 single “Buddy” alongside Q-Tip, Queen Latifah and Jungle Brothers. She also collaborated with Queen Latifah on “Ladies First” in 1989.

Monie was nominated for 2 Grammy Awards in 1991 and 1992, but she lost to MC Hammer and LL Cool J consecutively.

Monie’s fiancé Rezell, 40, is an NPC fitness instructor and host of the Gentlemen Of Atlanta podcast. He was also a contestant in the Mr. Health & Fitness competition.
