Three Transportation Security Administration agents who worked at Miami International Airport are accused of stealing cash from airline passengers.
Elizabeth Fuster, 22, Josue Gonzalez, 20, and Labarrius Williams, 30, are charged with stealing cash from passengers’ purses and bags during security screening at the airport.
A passenger noticed cash missing from a bag and complained to a TSA employee on June 29, according to news reports.
The TSA employee followed up on the complaint, watched surveillance video and contacted the police with their findings. Police took the three TSA agents into custody on Thursday (July 6).
In a statement, a TSA spokesperson wrote, “The Transportation Security Administration holds its Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to the highest professional and ethical standards and has no tolerance for misconduct in the workplace. We actively and aggressively investigated these allegations of misconduct and presented our findings to [Miami-Dade Police], and are working closely with them. Any employee who fails to meet our fundamental ethical standards is held accountable.”
The three suspects have since bonded out of jail.
