Jamie Foxx hopped back in the saddle after his “health scare” earlier this year. The 55-year-old actor has 8 movies in the production phase and 3 completed films, including “Not Another Church Movie” in which he plays God.
The film also stars Vivica A. Fox and Mickey Rourke as the Devil.
“Not Another Church Movie” follows actor Kevin Daniels who plays Taylor, a man who receives a mission from God to tell his family’s stories and inspire his community.
Producer-director James Michael Cummings told PEOPLE the movie was filmed before the actors’ and writers’ strikes — and before Foxx’s health scare.
“Working with Jamie Foxx, who is such a gifted actor, and adding the talents of Mickey Rourke and Kevin Daniels — Not Another Church Movie delivers what our community needs the most, an uplifting and hilarious film that for sure will delight audiences everywhere,” Cummings said.
Foxx also starred in this year’s surprise Netflix hit “They Cloned Tyrone”, “God Is a Bullet” and “The Burial.”
The Oscar winner was filming the Netflix movie “Back in Action” in Atlanta when he suffered an apparent stroke in April.
Foxx never confirmed or denied that he suffered a stroke. But he was transferred from an Atlanta hospital to a stroke rehab center in Chicago in May.
