Update, Aug. 11, 2023 at 8:00 AM:

Tory Lanez took to Instagram on Thursday to deny apologizing for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

In an Instagram post, Tory maintained his innocence, saying: “I refuse to apologize for something I did not do.”

But in court on Tuesday, Tory begged the judge for mercy, saying he took “full responsibility” for his actions on the night of July 12, 2020 in Calabasas, CA.

“If I could turn back the series of events that night and change them, I would,” he told the judge. “The victim was my friend. The victim is someone I still care for to this day. Everything I did wrong that night, I take full responsibility for.”

But Tory now claims he was taking responsibility “for all the verbal and intimate moments I shared”.

Tory’s post contradicts his attorney, Jose Baez, who spoke with reporters outside the courthouse where Tory was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday.

Jose said his client was “incredibly remorseful and ashamed and embarrassed”.

“As far as his actions are concerned, he has been nothing but apologetic.”

However, Tory insists he was “wrongly convicted” of shooting his former girlfriend.

“In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongly convicted of.”

The former rapper captioned his post: “Through Good Times and Bad Times … Stay Strong … I’ll See You All Soon.”

Tory Lanez is turning to God for strength after a California judge sentenced him to 10 years in a state prison for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

TMZ spoke with Tory’s defense attorney, Jose Baez, who said his client is feeling low right now and he’s having a hard time processing his sentence.

Tory, 31, is being held in isolation away from the general population at the L.A. County Men’s Central Jail until he is transferred to state prison.

Jose said Tory is turning to God, and leaning on his network of family and friends for support.

Tory pleaded with the judge for mercy during his sentencing hearing on Tuesday.

The former rapper was clad in an orange jail-issued jumpsuit. His hands were shackled to a chain around his small waist.

Tory told the judge he took “full responsibility” for his actions that night in Calabasas, CA.

“If I could turn back the series of events that night and change them, I would,” he said. “The victim was my friend. The victim is someone I still care for to this day. Everything I did wrong that night, I take full responsibility for.”

Jose previously said his client had an abusive childhood and was an alcoholic.

He said Tory is appreciative of the indignation of his Black female fans who loudly supported him on social media before and after his sentencing.

Jose said he is planning to appeal the 10-year sentence. But it’s doubtful the sentence will be overturned.

Tory will begin serving his sentence soon — minus 8 months for time served in the county jail.

Tory must serve 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for release. After he completes his sentence he will be deported back to Canada and banned from traveling to the U.S.
