Standup comedian Matt Rife raised eyebrows when he confirmed his Netflix comedy special is “for the guys.”

In the special now streaming on Netflix, Matt said, “One thing that I wanted to tackle in this special is showing people that despite what you think about me online, I don’t pander my career to women. I would argue this special is way more for guys.”

Matt is best known for his appearances on MTV2’s “Wild ‘N Out” and on the BET comedy series “ComicView.”

The 28-year-old aspiring comedian has opened on tour for established acts such as Kevin Hart, DL Hughley, Ralphie May, Tommy Davidson and Dane Cook.

He launched his standup comedy career at age 15 and later grew his TikTok fanbase to over 18 million followers.

His standup comedy routines feature LGBT+ humor and he complains that his audiences are mostly females.

In a Netflix trailer, Kevin Miles, a.k.a. Jake From State Farm, plays a gay detective investigating complaints that Matt is impersonating a comedian.

Kevin asks Matt for an autographed photo for his “wife” named “Frank”.

In the Netflix special, Matt makes light of domestic violence in an opening joke about a waitress with a black eye.

“I feel like if she could cook, she wouldn’t have that black eye,” he cracked.
