Mariah Carey and Bryan Tanaka called it quits because he wanted a family, but she didn’t want more children.

“He wants to have a family. That’s not where she is at,” a source close to the songbird tells Page Six exclusively.

The source said that the age gap of 14 years played a role in the breakup of their 7-year relationship. Tanaka, 40, wanted a child of his own, but Carey, 54, wasn’t willing to have another high-risk pregnancy.

Carey shares 12-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with her ex-husband Nick Cannon. The twins are seen with their mom and Tanaka in her dressing room.

According to People.com, Carey hasn’t been seen with Tanaka in months. She recently kicked off her Merry Christmas One and All! tour in mid-November, and Tanaka was not by her side at any of her shows.

A source tells PEOPLE Carey is also celebrating the holidays in Aspen without Tanaka.

Tanaka worked as a dancer with Carey starting in 2006 and they started dating after she noticed his toned bod in 2016. They took their May-December romance public later that year. Carey and Tanaka briefly broke up in spring 2017 before reuniting.

Carey is enjoying the single life in Aspen. She drew a crowd while shopping at the Prada store on Dec. 20.
