CNN and MSNBC threw Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis under the bus this week.
The liberals news outlets want Willis to recuse herself so the RICO election fraud case against former President Trump can move forward.
Last week, Superior Court Judge Judge Scott McAfee allowed Willis to continue prosecuting the RICO case. But she had to cut ties with her boyfriend Nathan Wade.
Wade resigned as special prosecutor on Friday.
But the case against Trump and his co-defendants is in limbo because Willis is under investigation for hiring Wade in the first place.
She is also the subject of an ethics investigation by the Georgia Bar Association.
Complicating matters further, Trump’s high-profile Atlanta attorney Steve Sadow filed an appeal of McAfee’s ruling.
A lengthy appeals process would delay Trump’s election fraud case for years.
The Fulton County case was considered the best chance to put Trump in prison.
“I think this is such a huge body blow, almost a fatal blow to Fani Willis. I think the way forward is she has to voluntarily recuse herself,” said MSNBC contributor Andrew Weissmann.
Weissman is best known for his leadership role on special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump’s Russian interference case.
CNN’s chief legal affairs correspondent Paula Reid says Judge McAfee’s ruling is “really a gift to President Trump and his co-defendants.”
If Willis doesn’t step down, Trump will not go on trial in Georgia before the election.
