A Colorado school bus aide lost her job after surveillance video showed her abusing and traumatizing defenseless autistic children.
Kiarra Jones was hired as a school bus aide in August 2023 after passing a satisfactory background check.
Nonverbal students on her bus suffered broken bones and their teeth were knocked out.
Several parents complained to Littleton Public Schools officials last year, but nothing was done.
“They had everything they needed to stop it faster and they didn’t,” said attorney Ed C. Hopkins, of the Rathod Mohamedbhai law firm. “They had notice and they ignored it. These children have been traumatized and tortured because they failed them.”
According to CBS News, a district spokesperson said the superintendent emailed a letter to LPS parents on April 5.
In the email obtained by CBS News, the superintendent said an investigation into the students’ injuries began on March 19.
Jones was terminated, and police were contacted on March 28. She was arrested on April 4 and released from the Arapahoe County Jail on a $5,000 bond on April 5.
Jones faces crimes against at-risk juvenile- third-degree assault and crimes against at-risk juvenile- injury.
