Zendaya teased her 2024 Met Gala appearance by wearing a tennis ball gown to the West Coast premiere of her new movie, Challengers.
The actress exclusively told E! News why it felt like the “right time” to return to the Met Gala after 5 years.
The actress, 27, plays a tennis star character named Tashi in Challengers.
After attending the Los Angeles premiere on April 16, Zendaya changed into a tennis ball gown for the film’s afterparty at Funke in Beverly Hills.
The neon dress featured a plunging neck line with a tennis ball at the bottom and a thigh split. The gown was designed by Celia Kritharioti.
Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach teased her tennis ball gown look in a post on his Instagram Stories.
In the post, Zendaya wore a gown designed to look like a tennis ball. He captioned the picture: “Imagine” along with 3 tennis ball emojis.
Zendaya’s last appearance at the Met Gala was in 2019. She wore a Cinderella gown designed by Tommy Hilfiger. When Law waved his magic wand, Zendaya’s dress lit up.
Zendaya explained that this year’s ball will be “very special”.
She will serve as the Met Gala co-chair along with Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth and Jennifer Lopez.
“We have some ideas,” Zendaya exclusively told E! News‘ Will Marfuggi.
“It felt like the right time to try to go back to the Met,” she added.
“Law and I, obviously we’ve been working together for many years and we’ve been doing themed dressing since Greatest Showman,” she told E!. “It’s so nice to be able to experiment with fashion.”
