Cher says she dates younger men because men her age are dead. The pop icon made the comment during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
Women Cher’s age have fewer options when it comes to dating and romance.
Cher explained that younger men are the only ones who approach her in her old age.
“The reason I got with young men is because men my age or older — well, now they’re all dead,” she said. “Before, [men my age] just never, they were always terrified to approach me, and younger men were the only ones that –,”
“They’re bold,” Jennifer Hudson interrupted.
“Yeah, raised by women like me,” Cher said.
The 77-year-old singer is in a May-December relationship with Def Jam executive Alexander “AE” Edwards.
Edwards, 37, is also known as one of influencer Amber Rose’s baby daddies.
Cher said she once turned down the late legend Elvis Presley, who was 11 years older than her at the time. Cher told Hudson she was afraid of Presley’s reputation.
“It was because I just was, I was nervous, and I knew the people around him,” she said. “And it wasn’t that they were bad people, it’s just that I was kind of nervous of his reputation. I’m really shy when I’m not working, and kind of shy around men.”
