Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr’s financial struggles continue. The 49-year-old boxer is facing two felony charges for passing a bad check in Nevada. Floyd is accused of “intent to defraud” by passing a bad check to purchase a $200,000 wristwatch in Las Vegas, according to Nevada court records obtained by ESPN.
A complaint filed by Clark County prosecutors alleges Mayweather wrote a $200,000 check from a Wells Fargo Bank account to Gold and Beyond resale boutique to purchase an Audemars Piguet watch on Dec. 25, 2024. Prosecutors allege Floyd wrote the check when he “had insufficient money, property, or credit” in the account to pay for the purchase.
ESPN obtained a copy of the receipt from the high-end Las Vegas jewelry boutique for the Audemars Piguet watch. Officials allege Floyd handed over the check for the watch while “knowing that the check would not be paid when presented.”

An attorney for Gold and Beyond explained why he waited until February to press charges. “The reason for the delay is that my guy trusted Mayweather and was trying to give him every opportunity to make good on that. And it got to the point where he wasn’t getting responses and wasn’t getting money for a watch that Mayweather had for well over a year,” said attorney Marc Cook, of Cook & Kelesis law firm.
Floyd recently sued his former manager, alleging he “mishandled” his watches and jewelry. However, the boxer is accused of pawning the same watches and jewelry to pay off his massive debts.
Last month a court ruled Floyd fathered a baby with a Las Vegas strip club dancer. He owes $1 million in back child support and $33,000 a month to the dancer. Floyd told a judge he doesn’t have $1 million to pay the woman. The baby is Floyd’s 5th child.
Plaintiffs in at least four states allege Floyd owes them money. Floyd’s money troubles forced him out of retirement and into the ring to pay off his mounting debts. There are reports that the IRS revoked his passport so he can’t leave the country.
However, a source close to Floyd told ESPN on Tuesday that he still has his passport and is expected to leave for Greece later this week. Floyd is scheduled to fight kickboxer Mike Zambidis in an exhibition match on June 27 in Athens.
